What my son was looking for. (Updated April 5, 2019)
This just arrived this morning. My 11 year old son needed a new duvet cover for his bed and he requested black. We needed something inexpensive for his room which we refer to as, "The Bachelor Pad". Why? Because he is roommates with his best friend, a 90 lb. Black Lab. Anyone who owns a lab knows how much hair is involved. The rule in our house, is that it needs to be EASILY machine washable. This can be easily removed, and washed with fabric softener to release all the fur in the dryer. That is the reason we use duvets with covers. Comforters are a pain to wash, and start looking rough after a few washes. Also, we live on a farm and things tend to get dirtier. He helps his dad in the shop and is always tinkering. Black hides a multitude of sins. What I don't know, can't hurt me. Out of the box, it is the correct color- a nice matte black. My son was also very happy with the feel of the cover, it is definitely very soft/smooth/silky. He commented on how much the dog was going to appreciate that. (Did I mention they share the bed?) I sew as a hobby and have taken side jobs doing hemming/simple alterations on clothing for other people. So while I do not claim to be an expert, I do know what a seam is supposed to look like. I inspected the seams and the one I received was properly sewn to my satisfaction. How it will hold up after multiple washes, only time will tell. I feel that for the price, and given that it was the right kind of fabric for our needs, that it was a good price. If a seam would let go, I don't know if I would blame that on poor construction. Let's be honest, it's a kid and big dog using it heavily. If that happens, I'll chalk it up to heavy use and run it through the sewing machine. I'm more concerned at this point about how the fabric itself holds up. After a few months, I'll update with how it's held up. Before it's first use, after a thorough inspection we washed it according to the care label (with fabric softener and Downy Scent Booster- Unstoppables, I believe?) and ran it through the dryer on low heat. My daughter has a duvet for her bed made from the same material, and I do appreciate how quickly the Microfiber fabric dries. This one was no exception. After the initial wash and dry, the seams were still holding. I placed it on the duvet, popped on the pillow sham, and now The Bachelor Pad is set. It does look very nice on the bed, and as a sign of approval, the dog and boy made themselves comfortable in the middle and baptized it with the dog's hair and some stray feed from morning chores. The circle is complete. Thank you Amazon, for providing an inexpensive option for a room that should probably be listed as a hazmat zone. Edit - April 5, 2019 We've had this almost 7 months now. It's been washed once a week since we bought it, so roughly 28 times? The fabric is still like brand new and the seams are still perfect. It can definitely take a beating! Now that our son is 12, we're transitioning him and his dog roommate to a more mature "teen" bedroom decor for The Bachelor Pad. Since the AmazonBasics brand has been great, I ordered a second duvet cover, bed skirt, and room darkening curtains from the product line in dark grey. I feel confident that these items will last a good long time and hold up to my son and his dog. Once his room is redecorated, I hope to find the time to post pictures of the whole thing on the review pages for the newly purchased items. (I'm pretty horrible at taking pictures and posting them- I'm trying to do better!) Also, his sister's white duvet cover (also AmazonBasics) has held up equally well. We're happy with them, and I have no reservations about recommending them to others. No, they aren't high end. They're a basic product BUT they hold up SUPER WELL to heavy use and weekly washing. And if you have kids, that's a great thing!

Finally! A Duvet Cover I like and in the right color!
I was searching for one duvet cover with two properties. One, I wanted it to be lightweight. The last one I bought weighed as much as the comforter that I put inside it. Uncomfortable was the only word I could come up with to describe it. This one is lightweight, covers my duvet perfectly, has ties and snaps. The second thing it had to be was microfiber. I have cats. I've learned over the years that Microfiber lasts longer with pets, is soft to the touch, and stays soft to the touch after you wash it. When I found this Amazon Basics Duvet cover, I saw that it came with a reasonable price tag, was the correct color (grey), was microfiber and because a few of the reviews said the fabric was a bit thinner, I was counting on it not to have excessive weight, but would be sturdy enough to hold the comforter. Color me very happy with this. Sometimes I've been burnt by Basics products, but not this time. This checked off all my needs, and looks great on the bed (plus it matches my grey curtains, which had been a housewarming gift and were becoming difficult to match with any other color. Love this. If you want a high quality, super-high thread count microfiber, don't buy this. But if you'd like to get your money's worth and have something nice against your skin, buy this one.

Very Low Price, Realy Soft, Had a Snag in the Fabric Though
I ordered this as I could not find local stores that had decent soft duvet covers in masculine colors, this is for my son at college. The microfiber is really soft and this has a lot of choices of colors. It is a low price which seems right for college as college. However upon removing it from the package it had several snags in the fabric, pulls. Since we discovered this while setting up the dorm room on move-in day we just accepted it as "it is what it is for Made in China and this low price" and deemed it good enough for college. It fits and is really soft and our son loves it. Rating 4 stars, LIke It. I cannot find anything similar on the market with these color selections and this LOW price so I am not being too harsh on the rating.

Soft and comfy
I'm a recent convert to microfiber and I love its softness and light weight. This duvet cover is so nice to the touch, easy to put on and easy to launder. It's very attractive and you can't beat the price. I liked the wide opening. I put the bottom of the duvet into the slot and lined it up with the bottom of the duvet cover. I had purchased 12 little clips at the dollar store thinking they'd be temporary until I could find something permanent, as my duvet doesn't have the corner ties. I clipped the bottom in place, then clipped up one side and repeated on the other side, leaving the top unclipped. I thought it would be a real chore to get it all in place but was surprised at the ease of installation. The clips worked so well that I haven't wanted anything else. I've been using colored bedclothes for a long time. I find now that I like the simplicity of the white and the feeling of peace it gives me. When, or if, I'm ready to reintroduce color I'll do what the hotels do and add something colorful folded and placed across the foot of the bed. That and some pillows should add variety when I'm ready. O-o-o-h, the holidays! Just think of what I can do to decorate my bed then. Thanks for an affordable, high quality product, Amazon.

Dog fur magnet, Annoying plastic snaps, Super Soft
This is a plain duvet cover. No pattern, no details, just a single color. I bought it to replace one my nutjob dogs tore when roughhousing. I have an oversized duvet and this is NOT an oversized duvet cover. I missed that detail and it doesn’t fit exactly how I’d prefer. Oh well, it was cheap. That part was my fault. Just pay attention to what size duvet you’re trying to fit. Makes a difference. Too much duvet in a cover makes it look shoved in, lumpy, and sloppy to me. Again, my fault for getting the wrong size cover. Ok, positives and negatives. Positives: - it’s SOFT!!!! Seriously, like you used a full bottle of Downy in the wash soft. Right out of the bag, too. - I like the beige. It’s kind of a khaki beige. - Did I mention is soft? Yea? Well, I’ll say it again. This thing is awesomely soft. Negatives: - It draws dog hair like a magnet! We have two dogs, a rough coat border collie and short coat german Shepherd. Usually it’s the grey border collie fur you see everywhere. But on this thing, it’s covered in brown wired german Shepherd fur. That kind of fur that doesn’t come out of anything. And since it’s brown/black fur, it looks dirty. And no, we’re not kicking the dogs off the bed. It’s this fabric. The last cover didn’t attract the fur like this one. Grrr.... - It has those awful plastic snaps for closures. You know, the kind where you’re pretty sure the fabric is gonna tear when you try to open the snap. And if you try to pry them open with your fingernails you break your fingernails. Yea, those awful things. So I’m pretty certain the fabric, which is now covered in dog fur after having it on my bed for 3 days, will tear when I try to open the snaps so I can take it off to wash it. So, yea, I like it but I don’t. I’ll end up replacing it, but it was cheap so I’m ok with that. If you don’t have pets, don’t mind those dumb plastic closures, and want a normal sized cover, it’s a really nice cover. It’s seriously the softest thing ever.

Great quality for an incredible price!
I am incredibly pleased with this duvet cover and pillow sham I purchased for my son’s bed. I was in Ikea with a $30 Navy duvet cover in my cart, pleased with the “deal” I had found when I decided to just “double check” amazon and make sure there wasn’t a better deal. That is when I came across the Amazon basics microfiber duvet cover in navy for half the cost of what was currently in my IKEA cart. I decided to give it a try and I am so pleased. The navy seems very true to color and the material is soft and feels like quality material. My concern came when I saw plastic snaps however they were very well sewn into the fabric. The snaps hold very well and I had to tug them a good bit to get them unsnapped to put the duvet in. I was afraid the tugging would cause the fabric to pull away from the snaps but it all seemed very secure. It also has the handy duvet ties at each of the 4 corners to hold the duvet in place so it doesn’t get bunched up. The cover even has a flap to cover the snaps so you can fold the duvet back if that is how you like to style your bed. My son really likes his new “blanket” and says it is really soft. This is the second amazon basics purchase I have made and I’ve been quite pleased. If fact, the sheets in the picture attached are Amazon basic sheets as well.

Can recommend if you enjoy your feet getting tangled!
This product has given me many a restless nights. Design flaws: #1. Foot pouch? The photo I uploaded is to show how horrific of a design the foot area of this blanket is. Your feet get tangled in there while you are sleeping, then you start to unsheathe the duvet from the cover. You wake up to thin sheets covering your upper half, and a wad of comforter wrapped around your ankles. Ontop of that it is snaps... Hard, plastic, SNAPS! They come undone so easily. Such a bad design. #2 Improper sizing. I ordered a king size cover to fit my king size comforter. There was about 12 inches of extra fabric falling off the sides and causing the comforter on the inside to slide around and bunch up. So, I trimmed it down to fit. I regret that now because I can't return it since it is altered. #3 Fabric. It is a cheap/thin blend that does not breathe. I suppose you get what you pay for at 25$. The Good is that it looks really nice when it is just setting there. I chose this cover because it is the only design I found and really liked. The search continues because I will not be keeping this cover. It is only good for display, usage is a whole other story. Cannot recommend. The design of the foot pouch is what tipped the scales toward this being a horrible product. If it went with the traditional buttons at the edge of the fabric, instead of useless snaps where your feet lay. I could have given this a 4 for price-to-quality, but the design is SO BAD I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.

Great purchase!
I’ve been using this duvet cover since 2019 or 2020. It’s amazing. It’s 2025 now, it’s so warm and soft and the deep blue is beautiful.
