I read hundreds of reviews on MANY magnesium products and ended up trying this one. So glad i did!! I've had lifelong constipation off and on and recently it became severe. Nearly 5 days, no movement...not even a whisper. Mind you, this was after over a month of taking a 50 Billion highly rated probiotic found on here--that was the beginning of where i now ended up. Also being older and not wanting to take an overkill of a chemical laxative that would cause abrupt relay races to the bathroom, i opted for this form of magnesium with doses i can control. I took two in the morning with a few bites of food and though i heard tummy noises (no discomfort whatsoever happened) but yet no movement by evening either. I read one review that stated if one was really bound up to take 4 in both a.m. and p.m. I took the calculated risk and took 4 in the evening with a larger dinner. I also drink A LOT of water daily normally but sipped on some more before bed. I had a lot of gut movement and noise (again, no discomfort whatsoever) before falling asleep. By morning i had some movement but not much. However, throughout the day and into the next, i continued to have more small movements. No racing to the bathroom like i was on fire. I didn't want to risk taking more that next day as i took a total of 6 in one day. NOT a recommended dose by the bottle....but i was desperate. 24 hours after that i took 2 at dinner. The next morning i woke to a NORMAL and uneventful movement. My guts are finally back to making normal noises along with my natural contractions moving things down the assembly line. I realize this is all pretty much TMI but if you're here and reading this, you are most likely in the same or similar boat and want to know if this stuff works. It's only been a few days for me but this supplement helped me immensely. I'll be taking 2 every p.m. and adjust accordingly along the way if needed. I'll also update this review with it's effectiveness over time. We all react differently to supplements and i hope this helps others as it did for me. My only advice is to take with food as i don't know if it would cause discomfort without, and seeing as how severe my problem was and taking the dose i did, most likely would have. If you stuck around this long, i pray this supplement works for you and my review hopefully helpful in some way.

Okay, I've waited a few weeks to leave a review on these to ensure I could really rate them. Um, these things are magical. I pop one at night with my other nighttime regimen of pills and let me just say - they do their job! I was stuck on using Senokot for the longest time and recently did some research to find something that won't affect my digestive track long term and this is where I landed. I was skeptical at first because I need to go to the restroom every day. Let me just say that this little power punch of a pill does NOT disappoint. It does what it's intended to do, and now I feel safer for not using something that could harm me long term.

I bought the PURE Encapsulations Magnesium (citrate) 90 VegiCaps at 150 mg. because that product was recommended to me by a health professional. However, to reach the benefits, I went through the first bottle in about two weeks, the second bottle is lasting probably a month. [It is to be expected that you may have to take more for your body to realize the full benefits.] I have since ordered Now Foods Magnesium Citrate 200mg, 250 Tablets at a much lower price (approximately five cents per 200 mg. tablet compared to approximately thirteen cents per vegicap for the PURE Encapsulations product). I will find out if there is any apparent difference [An UPDATE is available below in this review re: my experience with the NOW Magnesium Citrate]. That "said," I want to emphasize that I am happy with the results of taking Magnesium Citrate - I sleep much better, have no muscle cramping, and in general feel more relaxed. If the Pure Encapsulations Magnesium Citrate were not so expensive I would rate this product at five stars. It is my understanding (from the Pure Encapsulations site) that Pure Encapsulations is a company that sells to MDs and medical professionals who are interested in selling vitamins to their clients. Nothing wrong with that - just a pricier product to the consumer. What some people still may not be aware of is that a lot of vitamin companies buy their vitamins from stock wholesalers and then package and promote those products under their own label, etc. The same is true of most cosmetics -in which case you are buying their fragrance added and colorants, perhaps some Vit. E and/or aloe extract, etc. - and this I know from personal business experience in the industry. Very few vitamin companies or cosmetic companies actually make their own products. There are some very reputable, high quality vitamins available for much less than "designer" vitamins, which I consider Pure Encapsulations to be. I think Pure Encapsulations supplements are good, I just think there are lower priced vitamins available that are just as good. Perhaps Amazon will let me mention that I think that NOW Vitamins are just as high quality as Pure Encapsulations at a much more reasonable price. UPDATE: I have been taking the Now Foods Magnesium Citrate 200mg, 250 Tablets , which is pure magnesium citrate for months now and find that it is working very well - certainly as well and possibly even better than the Pure Encapsulations brand, but definitely without diminished effectiveness. Do be sure an check the label / content information (which are not always available on Amazon, and would require additional research online at the vitamin company's site and then making sure you are getting the same product by comparing the bar code numbers - an inconvenience but worth the effort). I bought this on the recommendation of a health professional I know. It is of the highest quality and has worked well for me.

This has helped a little with my GI issues. I have multiple autoimmune and need magnesium supplements!

Great product. Really good quality.

They are good, but one of the capsules was broken inside and so it coated all the other pills so they were very chalky in taste when I tried to consume them

Very poor absorption.compared to Mg glycinate form. Waste of money!
