The person claiming 40 to 55 must have a different size or a grinder with a lot of retention. **Q: Where is it made? Is it made in Italy?** A: The filter parts say made in Italy, but the pot itself is a fugaze. The photo is misleading since says made in Italy on the front/outside of the pot, but in person it does not. The bottom is marked “Made in Romania by Italian design.” This is not genuine classic Bialetti sadly. **Q: Could I use the 9 cup version of Bialetti to make 6 cups or less?** A: Sure, you can fill it up with as much water and coffee grounds as you would like. I will say that the number of cups they consider this to make is literal cups, not coffee cups. ;) **Q: Can I make only 4 cups (or somewhere less than 6) if desired or must it be filled to its capacity in order to work properly?** A: The 6 cup version (I thought) would hold 6x2=12 ounces. 12 ounces is over the safety valve in the bottom chamber which is supposed to stay above the water. So the 6 cup version makes about 5 espresso cups since some of the water remains in the bottom chamber and some of it is absorbed by the grounds.
