Dakason Automatic Door Closer, Residential and Light Commercial Use
My husband is the one that ordered and installed, so the review is his: (husband review) The product is good, well built and with very good resistance. I have installed this kind of product before. The compressor goes in the frame and the arm goes in the door. The arm could be a little bigger but it works as it is. In my installation, the door opens a little bit more than an 1/4 of the way and, for us is just fine to comfortably pass through. If I ever need to pass anything bigger, I can just unscrew on the middle of the arm and the door will be opening free. The regulations 1 and 2 work just fine. [1] (screw in) to set the time when we open the door. [2] (also screw in) to set the pressure on the shutdown time for a smooth shutdown). That is explained in the instruction flyer. How long it is going to last? Like I said, it is a good quality product, (all metal). Seems to me it is going to last a long time. We will see, I will come back to report if anything goes wrong. At least now, we won't hear that warning from your husband or wife. "Honey, you left the garage door opened, the heat is going to escape"! To that sense, we are both enjoying that peace of mind. I do! **UPDATE I moved the compressor towards the right, near the edge of the right door frame (pict number 4) and everything is working much better. The door is opening to it's full size of 90' + and it is more smooth on opening in which my wife loves it since it takes less effort to open it!

Works great; Installation was challenging
The door closer works great once installed, and has adjustments for closing speed. The provided screws weren't long enough to securely fasten the closer to the wall through the trim molding on the top of my door, and I had to install longer screws to make it work. I also had to adjust the position of the arm on the wall a couple of times to get the closing stroke right, which meant that I had to drill extra holes in my molding that had to be patched up. The provided template did not seem to position everything in the correct place, in my opinion. Overall a good product so far, after some trial and error on the install. I don't have to yell "shut the door" nearly as much any more :)

Does the job
Product is smaller that you would think. It is also versatile. I was able to install it on a fence gate with no problem. Works great for me even if installed outdoors.

No adjustment on the open force.
Purchased 2 units from Amazon 2/1/2020. Installed by a professional carpenter after his replaced 2 outside doors. After installation, both doors are very hard to open. I measured the open force with my luggage weighting scale, it took 20 lb. to open the door. The carpenter said there was nothing he can do about it, since his followed the template and the instructions, and there was no adjustment for the open force. My wife and my 8 year old granddaughter was not happy. After weeks of dealing with the heavy open force of the doors, today, I went to Google and found an instruction on how to reduce the open force by moving the top mounting bracket 2 inches away from the closer body. It worked link a charm. The open force was reduced to 5 lb. The manufacturer should have included the instruction on how to reduce the open force by moving the top bracket 1 to 2 in away from the closer body.

Adjusting closer speed and latching tension.
DOES THE JOB FINE. Had to adjust latching tension very high. Makes door hardtop push open.

It works you just need to experiment
So far so good. I wanted to find a cheaper alternative than the ones sold at Home Depot. It looks the same in the photos. When it arrived however it was like a 2/3 smaller version of the one from Home Depot. I installed it on a full sized metal door. It works but needed to be adjusted at it’s full resistance to close the door fully. Don’t know if it’s because of it’s small size or it’s because of my metal door with a constant wind blowing against it. When installing the arm should be as tight as an angle as possible to fully close. That was my experience after Swiss cheesing the door

Works as advertised
Works as advertised. I installed it on a hollow wood door, I just used a 10x14” piece of plywood as a backing plate to the door.

Tough to open.
unfortunately my wife and I aren’t strong enough to use this door closer. I called Amazon and talked to someone about making the tension more loose. I made those adjustments and it’s still too difficult to open and close multiple times a day. I gave it 2 stars because once it’s open, it closes perfectly. If you feel strong, this is the closer for you.
