How do I mount the bracket if the mounting plate is only 30 inches?** A: TV's are typically much wider than the width of the mounting bracket, this allows the TV to 'hide' the bracket behind it. Also, wall studs in the US are typically 16 inches apart on center but I use a stud finder(cheap tool you can get from Home Depot or Lowes) to verify stud locations. Having said that, my recommendation would be to move the mounting bracket a few inches right(or left) to mount the bracket to the wall using 2 studs. Then hang the TV on the mounting bracket and adjust(i.e. slide) the TV to the left(or right depending on how you mounted the bracket to the wall). The result will be the TV will then be off center from the mounting bracket but centered on your wall. Since the TV is wider than the bracket, the bracket will be hidden. Good luck. **Q: Do you need to purchase additional pieces** A: I am not sure what you mean by additional pieces, but the box I bought had everything I needed to install it. I will give a piece of advice...Tighten the handles before you put it on the wall. There is not enough clearance between the wall and the tv for a large arm to go between to tighten them afterwards. **Q: How strong are the side supports? I'm assuming they are welded on and not just part of the same piece of metal as the flat plate** A: They are very strong and not welded to wall plate. This is a great mount but does not pivot sideways. Only up and down. **Q: Does it attach to metal studs, 24 inches apart ?** A: Yes. mounting on two metal studs will be fine. Three studs are preferable. Use toggle or snap toggle bolts rated to hold the appropriate amount of weight. Most 3/16" snap toggle bolts will hold over 200 lbs. 1/4" bolts are recommended. Use a third set of bolts in the drywall where there is no stud for added support.
