I like this thermometer. It’s simple, it works well, and it’s solidly built. I’ve had a couple of these and they’re usually cheaply built and have all these settings that I never use. I don’t need to set it for beef or chicken, etc, I just want the temperature. All of the settings can make it difficult to set, or even work well. I recommend this thermometer.

This item works perfectly well but it calls for the help of a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. In addition, the very small print in the user manual makes it difficult to read.

These were almost half price and work very well. They respond quickly, like in one second. They are durable, water resistant and as accurate as much more expensive digital thermometers. They also arrives several days ahead of schedule !

Got a deal on it. Love the instant read thermometers. Got this one, washed it , stuck it in the drawer. 1st time I pulled it out it read 532 degrees (ambient house temp). Second time I replaced the battery, same issue. Never has worked ! RE - Rating This Product: Purchased Late May, 1st Use August. As you see above, didn't work. The thermometer is accurate and easy to use. I like Celsius and I was able to change the temperature reading from Fahrenheit to Celsius easily with the click of a button. It folds up compactly. I love that it has a magnet and holds firmly to my barbecue. Makes it handy and convenient.

It’s interesting to note the NIST certification for this meat thermometer as it’s been calibrated to standards of accuracy set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S. to ensure thermometers and the like prove accurate in medical, laboratory and other settings, which when considering how important accurate meat readings are is reassuring. To that effect a certificate of calibration is included, along with a temperature guide on the reverse for various meat types (of which there’s also a shorter version on the back of the thermometer itself). From my use it does seem to be accurate. It’s certainly easy to use, as pulling out the hinged temperature-sensing probe switches the device on, and pushing it back again switches it off. Other than that a long press of the temperature scale / lock switch changes the measuring scale from °F to °C and back again, whilst a short press handily locks the current reading for five seconds. That the display rotates 180° is a plus to make reading the thermometer easier when at odd angles (as does the backlit display when hovering around the darker confines of an oven). In practise both work well. The other thing I like is that the thermometer takes an AAA battery (included), which is an easy battery to come by here in the UK (of which I invariably have a spare lying around), and saves the inconvenience of trying to locate a specific watch-like battery that some other devices of the ilk may use. Also, for once I don’t have to keep charging something to keep it functional. In other words it’s nicely convenient. Regarding storage, the thermometer can be hung on a hook, or again rather conveniently, attached to a metallic surface such as a fridge door (where I keep mine) or a microwave courtesy of the build-in magnet (of which even with opening and closing the fridge door stays put). I think the device is great and works well, providing both the accuracy and assurance I need when cooking meat. My only criticism is that the writing on the supplied instructional sheet is miniscule requiring a magnifying glass to read it. Other than that it’s a worthy and useful acquisition.

This is an incredible device. Not only can it measure temperature it can do it upside down. I was truly shocked when the digits flipped on the little screen. No matter how you hold it, it is readable. What a time to be alive. It's also really cool that it seems to function at room temperature. It will read temperatures from freezing to in the hundreds of degrees apparently. Very cool.
