Bluetooth. Their website has a list of compatible phones.

Q: Just received the mug, how do you open the lid? it doesn't open

Well, you can screw the lid off to refill it or if you want to drink out of it just push down in the center of the lid and the spring loaded seal will retract allowing you to drink from it . . .

Q: Is the charging coaster wireless at all? If not that should be something to think about as an upgraded attachment

The charging coasters do not yet offer wireless charging. They use physical contacts to charge the mug. I hope in the future Qi wireless charging is added.

Q: Can this be brought on an airplane?

Yes, I just brought it on a plane from PDX to LAX, I didn’t have any problems going through TSA on either leg of the trip. I had it in my carry on but took it out of the bag for TSA check with my other electronics.
