But the 12 year will actually understand load, resistor, parallel and serial connection and so on ... Does the "junior" matter?** A: I bought my 7 year old the jr and now wish I had opted for a bigger set. If you already have the 300, I would use that one. They sell an upgrade kit that takes the jr to a 300, so if you bought the jr and then gave the 300 to your child, you'd be duplicating half the kit. **Q: 6 year old** A: I am not sure if you are asking whether or not this is a good present for a 6 year old or not. But, my son is 6 years old and he absolutely LOVES this set. His 13 year old sister actually likes playing with it as well. We are so impressed with it, that when he is complete with all of the projects, we are considering getting one of the more elaborate sets.
