I am looking to put these in my car in a Northern region where the temperature reaches -50 degrees F will these still work?

You can place the water in the sun to warm it before treating." - Rick Curtis, The Backpacker's Field Manual.Basically, wait longer: double time every 10 degrees F under 60 to be safest.

Exposure to heat, humidity, moisture, and air will reduce the effectiveness of the tablets. We recommend that an opened bottle not be kept for more than one year. Keep the cap tightly sealed.Although this product is not required to have an expiration date (taken from their website. glad you asked looks like i need to buy new ones.)

will the water purification tablets kill protozoa including giardia and cryptosporidium?

The front of the package states"Proven effective against Giardia lamblia when used as directed". The back states "Potable Aqua Germicidal Tablets have not been shown to inactivate Cryptosporidium cysts." Keri-Lynn, Four Seasons Survival

I have to use a sinus pulsation machine which requires either boiled or distilled water. Would these tabs work in tap water for this?

NO. Tap water has minerlas, salts, bacteria, etc. These pills only kill bacteria but filter nothing. All the minerals will stay in the water and will break your machine. Use distilled water.

小さな小ビンに入っていて携帯性が良いです。これは消毒剤と中和剤がセットになっていて、説明書きを理解しないと消毒不十分になるのでよく読みましょう。参考に手順を記します。 1クォート=945ccに2粒使う(消毒剤も中和剤も同じ)。消毒剤(白キャップ)を水に入れる。最初の5分は密閉しない。消毒剤を入れてから30分以上経過後、中和剤(黄キャップ)を入れる。この時間を守らないと消毒不十分になるのでお腹が超特急になる恐れがある。どちらもキャップ開けてから1年で劣化する。(キャップ開けてない状態での使用期限はわからない) 50錠なので約24L分の水が消毒できるようです。常用するような物でもないので十分だと思います。消毒後の水の味は判りません。開封後1年で・・・の説明書きがあるので試す気にならなかった。

この有名な商品を、使用すること無いことを祈ります。アドバイスとしては、取扱い説明書が英語でアマゾンの商品説明も英語なので緊急時に困ります。アメリカのアマゾンのこの商品は売られているところに取扱い説明が載ってます。それをグーグルで翻訳し紙媒体に印刷したほうが良いと思います。因みに、柘植久慶さんがお勧めしております。

１．５リットルのミネラルウォーターを購入後、空になったので試してみました。白のキャップを２錠、しばらくたった後に黄色のキャップを２錠入れてみました。１０日間は問題なく飲めました。非常時には問題なく使えると思います。ただ、沈殿物は避けた方が良いかと思います。
