Great restorative for railway sleeper table
We have an indoor dining table made from railway sleepers, 10+ years old, that was starting to look faded in patches despite being treated with wood polish. This product worked like a charm. Not cheap, but worth it, and you need very little.

Worked well
This product did a decent job of removing some water stains on a table along with some steel wool. Somewhat pricey but got the table top looking much better.

It's not magic...
Our back door was installed when house was built. That makes it over 40 years old. The sun shines on one side of the door the first thing in the morning until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. There are several sun faded areas because of that. I used the Restor-A-Finish with 0000 steel wool then wiped it off with a clean cloth. So - it didn't cover the sun faded areas to match the rest of the door; but, I didn't expect it to. The sun fades are a little darker after application, and I'm good with that. Really don't think it's necessary to apply the product with steel wool. Think the same results would have occurred with rub on/rub off with clean cloths. After applying I waxed it with carnauba car wax. The inside of the door that doesn't get sun, turned out very nice. The sun faded side of the door isn't perfect, but don't think anyone is going to open the door and examine it. In other words what they don't know won't hurt them. I highly recommend the product for ease of application along with very nice results. Just have an open mind because it's not magic.

Works great on old, heat-damaged, finishes
I had some pretty major heat damage to my antique dining room table. They say you can repair this type of damage with a hot steam iron through a thin piece of cloth. That wasn't going to help me here because my damage was caused BY an iron! (Somebody tried to use the table, with some towels on it, as an Ironing board....) I actually used the iron trick to even out the white spots from the heat, which helped only a little bit. I was despairing over the prospect of refinishing my entire table, and then I found out about restor-a-finish, and my hope was built up once more. My table top is old, dark, veneered wood, but I don't know the species of the base wood or the veneer. I also don't know what type of finish was on the table originally. The "dark oak" flavor seemed to be a good match, though. I put a healthy amount on a soft, lint-free, cloth, applied it liberally on the effected parts of the table, and let it sit for a minute before thoroughly wiping it off. This helped a little bit, but the white spots were still pretty noticeable. I then took the manufacturer's instructions, and reapplied and rubbed it on with #000 steel wool (with a light touch), before wiping it off. This worked better. Then I did it once more, applied very very liberally, and used a little force with the steel wool. This did the trick! You can barely tell by looking at the table that anything happened. I followed it up by giving the entire table top an application of Howard's paste wax, which really made it look good as new! Highly recommend trying for damaged antique finishes.
