how big are the cans?

Smaller than a 12 oz. soda can, but bigger than the 7-8 oz. cans. Sorry, I haven't seen them in a while! They are fairly heavy (as in not lightweight aluminum) and sturdy

Can the cans be opened to add weight?

They are sealed. You could open them with a can opener but that might ruin them.

Are the cans weighted?

No, they aren’t weighted but they had a bit of heft in that they were weightier than a soda can for sure. They didn’t dent easily (I think after a year’s play only one had a small dent in it). They are light enough for 3- and 4-year-old children (who cannot throw heftily or accurately!) to thrown the bean bag and be able to knock them down
