I am a hobby woodworker h, have been building projects from wood for over 50 years. I have never built anything using pocket screws until I found plans for a toy chest I want to build for my Great Nephew. This project uses pocket screws and I needed a jig. After searching Amazon I ran across this one, it looked like just what I needed. Right out of the box you can see it is well built and after cutting a couple practice pocket holes I was ready to start on my project, where it worked extremely well. I wish I would have spent the extra money for the Deluxe kit, I could have used the outer supports for the longer plywood pieces. There is no need to spend extra money for the more expensive name brand jigs.

This works pretty god for 3/4" plywood. I was building a cabinet with drawers and used 3/4" & 1/2" plywood. The 3/4" worked just fine and had no issues with it but when I got to the 1/2" this jig didn't drill the holes correctly. They were too shallow and when inserting screws (1" button head) the heads were exposed almost half of the head so I was unable to cover the holes or even attach a drawer face to it. I ended up purchasing a Kreg Micro Pocket Hole Jig that worked great. If I would have known this I would have purchased the Kreg and only needed to purchase only 1 tool instead of 2. Even though the instructions said that it works on 1/2" wood but it does not. Also both drill bits included with this kit dulled out very fast! I'm pretty disappointed about my experience with the performance with this tool.

I haven't used this to it's full potential yet, ie: cabinetry and furniture, but so far it's been a lot of fun in small applications. It's a learning process, but not a particularly difficult one. I contrived a few "low risk" experimental projects that I wouldn't be too heartbroken with if I botched the job through inexperience and they turned out very well. I'm definitely looking forward to tackling more projects. One small complaint is the amount of screwing and unscrewing between configurations. It would be nice if some it could accomplished more quickly with locking clamps or something like that.

Drill will start cutting aluminum casing and damage it.

So far it seems to be exactly what I expected. I can't wait to put it to use. Seems to be well built. Time will tell

This item is very helpful with creating corner connections. However. It doesn't freely let the sawdust fall after drilling the holes. So, each time you drill pocket hole you must stop and clean the saw dust hole. You also need a brush to do this. Not supplied!

Bought my dad this for his birthday in mid August and it’s already broken in less than two weeks
