A few years ago I bought a 50' hose off Amazon from some off-brand vendor. It looked good on the website and seemed like a good product by the description. It was one of those water expandable fabric flexi ones. It seemed like it would be good but in reality it turned out the materials were shoddy and the plastic end pieces broke after a few days. I ended up stuck with that thing so I swore off buying garden hoses from Amazon after that experience and also since you can't really tell by just the website if they have any flaws up close. This Aqua Joe one caught my attention regardless. It was a reasonable price but looked way better made than the last one so I was tempted to buy. Also it advertised durability and flexibility and looked more like a traditional hose so I gave it another try. It exceeds my expectations. Much better made than the cheap water expandable type and also better than the standard garden hose I was using before in that it is more flexible so it coils up easily with little resistance. The end pieces are also made of metal (never buying plastic again no matter what the price) and have rubber grips. Couldn't be happier with it.

These are my second set of aqua Joe hoses. I am an avid gardener and use my hoses constantly. Aqua Joe's are the only hoses I have found that dont leak at the fitting. They are light weight, kink resistant and hold up great.

Excellent quality, does not kink. Love the colour! I have had it 2 seasons, and forgot to bring it in the garage over winter the first year. It didn’t affect the function in any way.

I used to own a horticulture business. I've met any number of commercial and gimmicky residential hoses in quirky residential settings. I personally have lots of plants in the ground and in small plastic pots that are easy to tip over. I think a hose should conform to a wide variety of yards and gardens; one shouldn't have to plan one's garden to please the hose. My top priorities for hoses: lays flat, always doesn't get into stubborn loops that knock over pots doesn't get caught on everything, requiring me to walk back and forth to free it doesn't drag mulch and straw around with it soft, not stiff, should be able to follow me when I make a tight 180-degree turn can be dragged and then directed to spray between narrow rows using only one hand doesn't smell I'm not sure what others mean by "kinking". What I mean is that the hose folds in a tight enough crease to cut off the flow of water. I can forgive an occasional, temporary kink if the fold is not permanent and doesn't lead to crack the hose. But frequent kinking automatically means that the hose violates most of the above high standards. This hose meets all my hose-standards. This soft hose is easy to maneuver despite its size. I had to get the 100ft for my new yard. It rarely get stuck anywhere--not on stumps, rocks, jutting pavers, loose bricks--and when it does, one quick jerk sends a smooth wave down its length to free it. I seriously wish that I'd had the 50ft one for the little yard that I just moved from. It would have been better to have this one mostly stored in unused loops, than to struggle with the shorter one that I did have, which was the Zero-G. The Sun Joe is very "obedient", going only where I direct it, laying flat on the ground instead of rearing up and flopping onto my delicate fuchsias and my clean pants. It's not even that much heavier to pull than the Zero-G, which made up for its light weight by being impossible to direct or control. If you often need to pick up and carry the whole hose around, then for you it may be a different story, but it's still not as heavy as a comparably-sturdy rubber hose. It's also a very pretty color, which is a bonus. Out of the box, it WAS very difficult to straighten. I spent about 30 minutes unlooping it to its full length. Putting pressure in the hose was no better nor worse than leaving it dry and empty. I was worried because it insisted on twisting, looping, and (temporarily) kinking. Because there is no stripe, it was hard to tell when the hose was twisting and which way each section of it was twisting; a stripe would have helped expedite the process. But after this initial disagreement, we've gotten along swimmingly. Precisely machined metal parts are easy to attach and detach. I don't know yet about its durability. I live in a place that doesn't freeze and doesn't get too hot, and I won't be driving over it in my car, and I've only had it a week. But I've used it several times a day every day, and have accidentally left the water turned on high for hours at a time; my prediction based on the hose's behavior (see above) and the conditions here is that it will be pretty darned good. I will update if proven wrong. Overall a great hose. Good job, Sun Joe!
