RAPICCA Animal Handling Gloves, Bite Proof Double Leather, 16 in Grey-Black | For Dog, Cat, Bird, Falconry, Snake & Reptile Handling; Vets, Groomers & Animal Control Teams

I bought these 16” animal handling gloves to use in my home dog boarding / daycare business. Thankfully I haven’t had to use them yet, but I like having them ‘just in case’. I think luck favors the prepared. I ordered a few different animal handling gloves and settled on these. I like the thickness of the leather and the placement of the extra layers of leather. For a female 5’5” and 125 lbs, these fit quite big. However they are comfortable and stay on. I feel protected in them. Some other ones I ordered that were smaller for my hands didn’t have as thick of leather or the extra layers of leather at as many places or good places. I would never be able to do fine work with my fingers in these as they are bulky. However I would be able to grab or pick up a small dog or guarded object with them. I think they would protect from a bite from a small dog, medium dog, and warning nips from a large dog. However the bite force of a medium or large dog that means business would still crush your hands, just maybe not be able to rip you open due to the thick leather. I would guarantee that they would hold up to small animals like cats, hamsters, squirrels, birds, etc. Hopefully I NEVER need to test a snake bite on them!!! They appear well made with the stitching with thick but slightly flexible leather. The value is good as I believe they will last many many years used for various tasks like animal handling, grilling, and forging … probably my son will eventually steal them to forge with once he discovers them.

I originally bought a pair in 2019 and am buying a second pair now in 2025, due to my husband unfortunately losing the first pair (Its probably around here somewhere). We absolutely love these gloves for yard work. We live in an area in the PNW that has a green belt behind our house that isnt maintained, so we get all of the weeds invading our yard. Especially sticker bushes or blackberry bushes with thick vines, some thicker than a quarter. These gloves are excellent at protecting our hands from getting those nasty thorns in our hands when we're physically yanking these blackberry bushes and other thorny bushes out of the ground. I have large hands for a female and these gloves are a little big on me, but not unusable. I usually wear a mens Large in gloves. I can grip things well with these gloves and they are flexible in the hands enough to get the job done. We have yet to have any punctures from those thick thorns or thorny bushes, hence me ordering a 2nd pair 6 years later. I need them for some yard work right now and my pair from 6 years ago is MIA. They work great and I'd recommend these to anyone who is using them for yard work, totally worth the money and they last - good quality gloves.

Most of the dog training things are sopainful to wear that protection seems a moot point. These are so soft inside, you could sleep in them. In my case, that may not be a bad idea with 2 mouthy puppies of varying age and size. One is Anatolian mix, about 1 year and the other is GSD mix 9 weeks, 15 pounds. Both have teeth that are painful on the arms and legs. The professional Shutzhunde gloves were very good protection but the neck strap could not be adjusted to be long enough to allow them to hang around the neck and still get arms inside. They are reassuringly heavy but you need the strap so they were returned. The one armed device is better but the dogs just avoid it and go for other areas of the body not protected. These are the most hopeful find in addition to the Tippmann paintball gloves even though they don't have fingers. Tried other items but these gloves seem thick enough to withstand puppy chewing even from the Anatolian as he's not really trying to hurt anyone. For serious dog training, the Shutzhunde arms would be great but need addition to the neck strap length. So if you're training a service dog and not an attack dog, these should work just fine and they are large enough for my husband (size 16) who's 6'4" tall and though they're too long in the finger for me, you can really sleep in them should be chewed in the middle of the night on a puppy whim; So soft on the inside - no kidding. I hope they withstand the incessant chewing for the next 12 months. Will update review if not. They were just so wonderful on the owner's side and sturdy on the dog side that I had to write an instant review.

It handles bites. Does what you would expect, no issues.

I got these gloves to protect my arms and hands while working in the garden, especially around rose bushes. They definitely provide protection from thorns. Just keep in mind however you don't have much dexterity due to the thickness of the leather.

I bought these gloves after my German Shepherd's puppy teeth sliced through one of my fingers during play. Since purchasing these gloves, they have saved my fingers several times. I can feel the pressure from the bites, but there isn't any pain or cuts. Since he is a working dog, these gloves will continue to be used as he gets older. Happy with the purchase.

Bought these to help with a mouthy sheep dog, sweet but likes to take hold of my hands. Have not used them yet but pretty sure will do the job.

10/10. Without these gloves I would have no skin on my hands, fingers; or arms. Like literally these gloves are amazing. They are without a shadow of doubt the best thing I ever bought. Once upon a time, I tried trimming my cats nails, she hated it. No matter what conditioning I tried to do, treats, calm, one by one, slow and steady, nothing worked. My arms would bleed, my fingers trapped in her claws. Her bunny kicks would deliver the final blow, and I’d have to give up. My hands and arms would look like a mommy. Then I got these gloves, my parents laughed at me for buying falcon gloves, but I knew, they would save my skin (literally). Now, she still kicks, bites, scratches, hisses, growls and looks at me like I killed 9 generations of her kin. But at least I can trim, 3-4 nails on a bad day, and 8-9 on a good day. All while without getting a single scratch on my arms. And she is one happy kitty after getting treats. They are thick, fit big enough but small enough to not fall off, they are so durable and are great quality. Some people use it for wildlife, I use it for a rescued domestic 4kg white short hair cat who hates her nails trimmed.
