Only delivers 60% of expected battery life and failed to provide enough power to hibernate
I've tested the battery a few times since I received it and it only provides about 60% of the life I would expect from a new battery. My laptop is about 2 years old and Consumer Reports found, in their realistic testing, that the battery was good for just over 5 hours of continuous use (without screen saver or going to sleep). This battery provides just over 3 hours of continuous use, which is about 60% of what I would expect a new 2850 mAh (31 Whr) battery to provide. I tested with screen saver turned off and sleep turned off while on battery and with occasional/intermittent active use (primarily e-mail and some websites; low energy consumption: 5-10% CPU when not actively in use). I even tested with a lower screen brightness (30), but there was no significant difference in battery life. On the last test, the computer attempted to hibernate at 8%, but shut down, instead (apparently, it did not have sufficient power to hibernate!). As a result, I have no confidence that the battery will have sufficient power/energy for the computer to hibernate when the battery gets low, so that I don't lose all my work! Shutting down, without warning wais the primary reason I was replacing the original battery that had gone bad! I followed all the instructions to discharge the battery, and fully charge it up, before testing it. The documentation that comes with the battery says to expect this battery to last only 2 years.

There's a reason this battery only has a 6-month warranty. Guess why...
I would not recommend this battery for an HP laptop. 6-month warranty, lower voltage than factory and after 18 months, will no longer hold a charge more than about 5-10 minutes.
