By arranging several of these on paper towels in the areas that were getting wet, we were able to find it and fix it. We then re-used them when we had a new dishwasher installed. They picked up a leak from the air gap that would otherwise have just dripped every time we ran the unit until we finally figured out there was a leak way at the back of the cabinet. Useful item. I'll be hanging onto them. Review: Easy to install and effective - These leak detectors appear to work well. I placed them inside plastic pans under the drain pipes. I have 4 convectors that occasionally have leaks and one of them had a hairline crack in one of the trays which resulted in a slow drip. The detector sounded the alarm and I was able to catch the leak when there was a tiny amount of water in the plastic pan underneath. Had I not had the these, I may not have noticed the leak until I had a puddle or a flood. These are very easy to install and set. They have a volume setting too but even at the lowest setting, they're loud especially because I'm in a one level apartment. I recommended them to others who are also satisfied with the extra protection.
