This must be one of the least 'fishy' tasting canned fish I've ever eaten. Those little condiments inside (olives, etc) really make this mackerel's taste pop. Must be the tastiest canned fish ever! And I love the nutritiousness factor - loaded with Omegas and high quality protein! Goes well with a salad or another side dish, like rice. A decent one person portion, too.

I just got my order and ate 2 cans today. Was coming off a 22 hour fast, and wanted enough protein and fat to balance my macros, yet not eat so much to impede my next meal in a couple of hours. I am also carnivore, well more like ketovore as I chose the Mediterranean style which as some olives and spices. But I do keep my carbs to 10 grams TOTAL per day or less. So lots of meat, fish, butter. I already am enamored with King Oscar products. It was my gateway brand into the world of canned fish some 15 years ago or so. No matter the fish, I usually go for plain, packed in water or oil, and preferably with bones. I am open to flavored options so long as it isnt adding much in way of carbs or isnt sitting in junk ingredients. Kinda taking a walk on the wild side here, or dirty side as far as clean eating goes with this having seasonings, olives, and not having bones (bones are nutritive!). BUT, I bet I was hungry when I ordered these, and since I eat so many sardines, mackeral, and other canned fish... I thought why not have something a little different? I usually eat 2 tins of fish. My thought was to have this as a topper to my usual plain sardines or mackerel. But what did I do for my first taste? I dumped 2 tins into a bowl, and gobbled it all up. I had to refrain from licking the bowl clean as I did not drain this first. GAWD, this was GOOD. It is a tad salty, but if you happen to be on a very very low carb diet, then you know salt is needful. The sodium in this made it extra tasty to me. I think it also lends enough flavor to be used on top of grains, pasta, potato, salad or vegetables--if any of that is your thing. For me, I will likely pair it with one tin of plain, as intended. Give it all a nice pop of flavor without being too much. Or maybe I just go for it again and gobble down 2 tins of this lovely Mediterranean flavor option. I was really satisfied with it taste and texture wise. Speaking er writing of texture. The mackerel is firm with gentle give. Not mushy. It has a good solid mouth feel that makes me feel like I am eating something. It's divine in my opinion. I never eat my tinned fish hot, but I can see this being a nice convenient option to go toward a hot meal, or of course cold or room temp. Just a few slices of olives. I can see them, taste them, and enjoy them. Seasonings are evident too. A nice pop of flavor. The tin is about typical as far as opening goes. Peel back, try not to splatter oil on yourself. All in a little box. Stacks well. Clearly identifies what is in this. I have a huge hoard of tinned fish options, so I appreciate when I can figure out what is what quickly. I already know I will buy this again. So 5 stars from me

The Mediterranean Style Mackerel by King Oscar are great! The added olives and spices still taste great after cooking and canning. The mackerel is a little crammed in there and dry, but when I break up the fish in the oil, it mixes with all the flavors. I will buy again if the price stays stable, aka $3/can when buying a dozen.

These are pretty tasty and almost a meal in themselves.
