How and how often can you clean it?

My husband cleans our distiller at least once a week to avoid crystal build up.

So if the heating element is 1500 watts and it takes 4 hours to make 1.7 gallons, isn't that 3500 watts per gallon?

Model 46H example: 1500 watts x 4 hours = 6,000 watts at .095 kilowatt rate, (example utility rate per 1,000 watts) = 57 cents per gallon.

You get 1 gallon about every 2 hours or so and then need to refill boiling tank. If you do this all day you can get up to 12 gallons. The automatic version of this hooks up to a water supply and does the filling automatically. You can find it here on Amazon just search for 12 gallon automatic fill
