Used to cap off a solvent weld pipe - worked fine
We had a new waste pipe connected to our soil pipe by a plumber in anticipation of a bathroom remodelling. In the end the plan was shelved so we had to cap off the pipe. The plumber (being a tradesman) had used solvent weld pipe, which is (at 43mm) slightly too wide to fit into traditional 'push fit' fittings, so we ordered this to do the job and it worked fine. (In case you are wondering why we didn't just ask the plumber to return and cap it off - we did - but he said it was not worth his time for such a small job).

Perfect for connecting a solvent weld waste pipe to a push for waste pipe. There's a 2mm difference in pipe size even though they both sell under a 40mm description. After lots of research, this did the job perfectly connecting the two together and no leaks! No need for silicone or sealant either as the rubber gaskets make the fixing watertight. McAlpine products are the best!
