We used the holders mounted on blocks of wood for simple set up and take down. Review: Simply and cheap just lacks security - I was driving up to Maine with my father who doesn't have a bike rack for his van, so I bought this mount which we drilled into a couple pieces of wood to make a stable platform. The device is easy to adjust and securely fits over my front thru axle and we were able to easily fit this in his Honda Odyssey. They also provide replacement grommets and t-rail hardware if you were to mount this.
