I have bought Scott’s before, many times. Sometimes it works very well and others not well at all. The Bermuda grass seed (2 bags), I bought, produced not a single blade of grass. Followed instructions as always. Very disappointing considering the expense, time and energy. Nature of the product I think.

After 13 days, good weather and watered daily, not one single seed has germinated on a newly landscaped yard. Local nursery says it's likely been bagged in a warehouse too long just more Amazon warehouse garbage

I didn't count the germination rate. I just wanted to get some new grass under the area where the trailer was at and to patch a few brown spots. It was just a 1lb. bag but it covered what I needed. That was a few weeks ago and it mostly cam up. I'd say the growth rate was ok, but not super fast; just ok. I', not disappointed but also not overly thrilled either; thus barely 4 stars.

Every single 1 lbs bag claims that it will cover 1000 sq ft. I have a trench that I dug to bury conduit and it measures about 130 ft long and because of disturbance about 2 ft wide. This means overall square footage is 260 square ft. With edge guard Scott's spreader shoots out about 3ft so I was expecting to walk on one side of the trench, turn around and walk back on other side of the trench. Total square footage of doing that should be 780 square feet. Color me amused that in expecting to walk the trench 4 times (ergo buying 4 bags), I very quickly realized that stated square footage is ridiculously overstated. Using 4 bags I barely walked trench 130 ft one way and about 60 ft the other way. This means total seed coverage spread is 570 square feet for 4 1 lbs bags. Bags claim to would have covered 4000 square feet. This means that actual coverage is 7 times less than stated. This means each and every 1 lbs bag actually covers 142 square feet which is a far cry from 1000 square feet stated. And so I just ordered another 4 bags. For those interested on the bag it says to set your dial to 3.5 on the spreader. That seems to be very adequate so you are not wasting seed... it is just not covering what it said it should. Also if this is your first time spreading, do not hold lever when you start moving. Hold lever after you have already moved because the way spreaders are designed is they immediately drop seed so you need to be moving for it to spread, otherwise it will dump a pile of seed in 1 spot. I dropped a very small pile as a test.

Planted last fall, I see it starting to come up just now, I will review it again later. Got to give it a chance. Scotts products have always preformed well for me, so I suspect this will also.
