Product Description ------------------- The ultimate expression of Canadian Rye Whisky, Lot 40 is 100% rye grain that is made the old-fashioned way - distilled in a traditional copper pot still one batch at a time to preserve the notes that truly define rye whisky. Ideal to offer at dinner parties, presented as a gift for special occasions such as hers day or birthdays. A sour rye bread notes on the nose, complements the ripe Bartlett pears, warmed honey notes on the palate. A complex and smooth body with heavy rye spices and white pepper unites with roasted walnuts, English Toffee, and subtle dark fruits leading a warming finish. This Canadian Rye Whisky is called Lot No. 40 because in 1998 the product was designed by then Master Blender Michael Booth. It was his interpretation of how a 100% rye whisky was made in early Canada by his fore her Joshua Booth. When Joshua immigrated to Canada the plot of land that was given to him was Lot number forty, hence the name. Michael is 7 generations removed from Joshua Booth. The current edition is made by our Master Blender Dr. Don Livermore, who changed the recipe slightly due to his findings with his PhD, where all of Lot No. 40 is all un-malted rye aged in brand new American oak casks.
