Does this support separate wall light/fan switch(extra blue cable)?

You CAN hook this fan to the wall switches... I find it frustrating to see people say no and giving misinformation. The fan comes with a receiver and remote, all you have to do is bypass the receiver to get it to work on a light switch, i.e. connect your red wire from the ceiling (which is your live light wire) to the blue wire coming from the motor of the fan. As long as the fan exposes the blue (live light) wire this technique will work on most fans with remotes (I have done it 3 times now on different brands/models - the only time it hasn't worked is on a fan that hid the blue wire inside the motor). This fan exposes black/white/blue from the motor so this bypass will work. Just make sure to cap off the blue wire coming off the receiver, and your good to go.

The description says the metal is brushed nickel but it looks polished/shiny. Any insight on what it actually is?

I would say the finish is downright shiny. Definitely satin nickel over brushed, and honestly, maybe even toward the realm of polished. It's not a mirror/chrome-type finish, but more much more shiny than brushed.

What type of motor does this have? Is it DC?

This is 120 vac, not DC. It comes with a remote control that uses 3 set speeds and works well but if you decide not to use it can direct wire to standard 120 volt ac service.
