Question 1

Which one? house is 1200 sqft, brick walls, 2 floors. i have only 65mb internet. 4x mw3 or mw6/5?

Accepted Answer

Personally, I looked at both too and went for the MW6. It's not so much the coverage, because you can always buy extra nodes for either version (which I did - I've got four set up) but the MW6 set up is just faster overall. The units have a faster processor on board and the ethernet connection is gigabit where the MW3 is only 100Mbit.
My only other, but related, bit of advice (and I don't know how many other buyers would agree with me here, but I stick by it) would be to work out how many units you think you'll need to give you decent coverage and then get at least one more node. I've set two of these meshes up so far and, unless you get extremely lucky with where you can put them, you won't get the coverage you expect. Bear in mind that every node needs a combination of a power socket somewhere nearby, a flat surface to put it on and a relatively clear signal path to at least one other node. Splitting them between floors definitely helps as the signal will go through wooden floors and plasterboard ceilings better than through brick walls. I live in a bungalow and what made the biggest difference to that setup was putting a fourth node in the loft.

Question 2

will it come with a uk 230volt plug? or do u need an adaptor?

Accepted Answer

Dear Kindle Customer, the device comes with Type G UK/Irelands plugs/power supply units for each of the nodes. No adaptors are required. Thx Andy Woolhead @ Tenda UK

Question 3

I have a juwell smart controller for my aquarium lighting and timer. has anyone had issues with the tenda wifi 5g affecting other wifi signals?

Accepted Answer

I run two WiFi networks and have not had any problems

Question 4

I have a one gigabit line with a fritzbox dual band router. Is tbis compatible & what speeds can I expect from these units? Tks

Accepted Answer

Will entirely depend on how many devices you have attached. I have a "normal" household with a 350Mb/s line, and three data-hungry kids, and streaming/web gaming is happening often. I'm fairly data hungry too! My old ISP router gave me sustained speeds on my phone (half a house away) or 20-30Mb/s. These units are providing to my phone and laptop anywhere in the house around 100Mb/s. That's pretty much the limit of current WiFi in an environment with walls, wires, furniture.

The downside of these units is that they are dual-band, ie 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz. So the units use the same WiFi channels you're using to communicate with each other. More expensive systems use a third channel to back-end communicate and that presumably makes things faster...

Hope that helps
