Love the cup, pay attention to the use and care instructions.
I previously owned another brand cup, which was a gift and was the first time I’d heard of self warming coffee cups. I was immediately enamored because I am a slow coffee drinker normally only have one or 2 cups a day and they would stay warm as long as I needed them to… However, before too long I had problems with the charging base and the contact points and they eventually failed customer service was not good. Had to buy a new cup and when that one also failed I decided to try the Kepwam. So far, I am extremely happy with the quality and usability. The touch buttons with which you set the temperature you like are easy to use and if you keep it on the charging base, it’ll stay warm as long as you leave it on there-when it’s off the charging base the top works very well at helping the battery last longer and I’ve never really not finished a cup that wasn’t the temperature that I preferred up to at least two hours. The charging base and contacts are much more robust than my previous cup. Price point was also much more attractive than previous brand. I did have trouble with the first cup that I owned, but found out that it was probably due to my not paying close attention to the use and care directions and may have caused the failure, however the company immediately replaced it with a brand new one so I’m very happy with customer service also. Really like some of the new colors.!

Holds heat great! Good battery life for me
Updated review in 2026: Just shy of a year of purchase, I started having trouble with my cup. The lights would just flash and turn off instead of staying on and keeping warm. It didn’t work if my cup was full, and the battery was fully charged. I contacted the company here through Amazon (I couldn’t find any other way on any other site or email). After some troubleshooting back and forth, they sent me a whole new mug that is working perfectly. I’m not sure what will happen if this one also fails. But I’m glad to have a replacement at no extra cost. That’s good customer service! Also an update on my replacement lid from the 2025 review—that lid also broke eventually. I have a new lid on the new mug and we’ll see how long it lasts. It appears to be the same one. Original review in 2025: I love love love my mug! I’ve owned it for about 7 months now and I use it daily all day long. I put it on the charger at night and it lasts me on low for the whole next day until about 5-6pm. The low setting is perfect for my coffee, personally. I do mew the lid on full time and I think that helps with temp control and battery longevity. My mom has the same mug and she keeps the lid off. Her battery lasts less time and she has to keep it on the medium setting. So if you’re having less performance than you’d like, try keeping the lid on. I like the purple color the most, though I would have preferred green or blue. However, I don’t like the “dusty” shade look of the colors. The touch buttons are perfect I think because they are actual buttons you have to push yet there aren’t any cracks for liquid to get inside. I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting a touch screen button either. I only have two small complaints: 1) The lid broke the first time I tried to remove the black slider to clean it. Now it’s too loose and the slides closed on me when I try to drink. I ordered a replacement lid and it’s been ok so far, a few cleanings in, but it’s loosening as well and sometimes slides closed on me. I’m not keen on buying another lid that is both difficult to clean AND prone to breaking. 2) The wide shape of the cup means it doesn’t fit in any of the car cup holders. I’ve taken it in the car on many occasions and I have to set it inside my console, where it has spilled a time or two. It does fit inside my mom’s Honda pilot cup holders, however. Overall, I still absolutely love this cup and it has been a game changer for actually finishing a cup of coffee before it gets cold! Perfect for a busy homeschooling mom of 3. Best Mother’s Day gift ever!

Clear lid burned by hot beverage = BPA in my drink...skip this, it's not worth it.
I like this cup because it does keep my coffee and tea hot...albeit at the highest setting. My definition of hot is the same as how the coffee comes out of the carafe, freshly made as well as the hot water for my tea. That temp is the same as the highest setting. It also helps to keep it hot with the lid that comes with it. Speaking of the lid, my concern is how it "burns". If you put a hairdryer on high and put it close to plastic, it will warp it and if it doesn't, it will definitely burn it. You will see the surface scar with burn bumps, if you will. That means the plastic is not high temp safe = plastic in your hot cup of coffee or tea. This explains the taste I had on my first night with hot tea. It tasted funny and I played it off as it's first burn. This morning I clean the lid after my coffee and notice the part of the lid is still clear, but the other side and middle has scuff marks because it's no longer clear, but cloudy. I can feel a texture that the clear side does not have and that is clearly plastic burning from the heat. I included two pictures to show the new "frosted" look of the lid. The darker one has a clear area that you may see the texture of the tray that it is on. I took a third picture where you can see through the lid in that same area to the mousepad underneath, while the other areas are burned or scarred. Please note that this lid used to be clear and see through. I will not be using this lid and may send this entire thing back because that is not good at all. That is low quality plastic that I most likely ingested while drinking my hot beverage. The bottom of the cup also shows some anomaly that shouldn't be there, almost as if it was also burned. In the picture, the bottom of the cup has a new texture that wasn't there before. I checked this cup to see if there were anything odd about it as a new cup and there was nothing to note. The bottom of the cup was as smooth as the sides of the bottom are. Note that the center of the bottom is thinner than the other area. You can push down and feel it give. Tap the middle, then tap the sides of the bottom and you can hear a hollow sound in the middle and you can hear it become more solid and sturdy closer towards the sides. The paint and how it is applied may not be as quality as it looks. I'm returning this. I have other metal mugs with clear plastic lids that have not done this in the years that I have had them. Enter this item and the lid burns along with the paint on the bottom of the cup where the heating element is.

Your New Best Friend!
I purchased 2 Kepwam 20 oz. heated coffee mugs over a month ago. My husband was grumpy about the price of his surprise, but now he’s smiling and recommending them to everyone …👍! We’re coffee drinkers. We LOVE these mugs ! They keep our fine coffee at the perfect temp. for 8 hours on a full charge, caps on. Most importantly it doesn’t boil the coffee down and cause bitterness, it maintains it’s perfect flavor and temperature. We use them with caps always on, and I use a glass straw with mine. I was concerned about the comfort of its handle, I’m a small handed woman - but it’s nearly 3/4” width, it’s careful shape and placement make this large cup easy to balance and use - and comfortable for me. I like it’s smooth steel foundation with a porcelain-type painted finish. It hasn’t chipped or scratched and it distributes heat evenly. It’s easy to clean and good looking. We have the burgundy and black cups. I like it’s lighted and smooth control button on the cup, it’s discretely placed and easy to see what’s going on! The middle temp heating is perfect for us. I’ve used this cup almost constantly. I keep my cup at my side and mostly on its charger plate during the early day, and then it’s ready to run around with me, off charge, for 8 hours later. If you don’t touch it for 2 hrs., it safely turns itself off. It charges more quickly than I expected, and you can use it during charging. Thank you to the person at Kepwam who designed this cup carefully, with quality. These days people are searching for quality products they don’t have to constantly replace. ( I plan to buy 5 more of these as gifts, when they’re on sale!). Pamper yourself … try one of these great cups. Highly recommended!

Large-Capacity Heated Mug Designed for Desk Use
purchased this heated mug specifically for desk use, and in that context, it mostly does what it’s intended to do. What initially attracted me was the large capacity, since I prefer a bigger mug that doesn’t need constant refills while I’m working. The mug feels solid and well-made. I like that the main body is not plastic, which gives it a more substantial, durable feel on the desk. The bottom has enough grip that it stays put and doesn’t slide around easily, and the overall design looks clean and modern. There are also several color options available, though I chose black and later realized I might have preferred a lighter color, like I am now drooling over the lilac colored one and wish I would have gotten it. The operation is very simple and doesn’t require an app, which some people will see as a plus for a work setup. Everything is controlled by a single button on the side of the mug: Press to cycle through three heat levels (low, medium, high) Indicator lights show the active setting The mug shuts itself off if it’s empty or inactive It charges on the included base and takes several hours to reach a full charge For desk use, this simplicity is convenient—no phone pairing or software needed. That said, I do miss the finer temperature control that app-based mugs offer. My main downside has been battery life. On my unit, the mug sometimes powers off before I’ve finished my drink, which is noticeable during long work sessions. Because this is a larger mug, I expected it to stay active longer between charges. The mug is also fairly heavy when full, so I wouldn’t consider it a travel mug. It feels best suited to staying on a desk rather than being carried around, and the plastic lid is more about heat retention than spill prevention. I also wish the lid was metal, not plastic. Overall, this is a good desk companion if you want a large heated mug with straightforward controls and don’t mind recharging it regularly. It’s not perfect, and at this price point, I expected stronger battery performance, but for keeping a big cup of coffee, tea, or broth warm while working, it generally gets the job done.

Super happy with this mug as a replacement for my old Ember
I'm very pleased with this heating mug. I got it to replace an Ember mug I had been using for many years. Pros: much cheaper than the Ember. Doesn't seem like the coating will delaminate like the Ember, but I will update if it does. (That was my biggest beef with the Ember, who knows how much of that coating I ingested over the years.) Super cute lavender color. Larger than the Ember but with a slightly smaller charging plate (more capacity and smaller footprint!). Doesn't need an app! Haven't found any cons yet, except as others have mentioned, the handle is a bit thin and not the most comfortable. Def NOT a deal breaker to me. The medium temperature setting is plenty hot for me, it's hot but totally drinkable. I've only had it a few days, but it seems to heat fast, maintain temperature well, and overall I am just really happy with it!

Keeps Coffee Hot for Hours, Goldilocks approved
The KEPWAM 16oz Smart Heated Coffee Mug does a great job of keeping a hot cup of coffee at your desired heat level for several hours. With three temperature settings to choose from (warm – 113°F, hot – 131°F, and piping – 149°F), one is bound to be “just right” for you (not too hot, not too cool)! The cup itself is very attractive and there are several color options available. Again, you should be able to find a color that is “just right” for your taste. I have found the battery life ample to get me through my morning routine, with the cup maintaining the mid-level temperature for about 4 hours on a full charge. There is also an option to keep the cup on the charger plate while in use, which will keep the charge all day long. Of course, that defeats the “portability” benefit of a self-powered heated cup. I have been using a warming plate for years, but have had to sacrifice the ability to take my coffee with me to another room and keep it hot. So, whether you use the portability feature or fixed charger plate option, one is bound to be “just right” for you! They do list the “capacity” as 16 oz. While this is, technically, a true statement, 16oz fills the cup to the very tip-top of lip (see photo). Of course, a cup this full cannot be moved without spillage, so the “usable” capacity is more in the 14 oz. range. Also, they similarly list the capacity as 14 oz with the lid attached. Again, this is an overflow level. The “usable” capacity with the lid is more like 13 oz. (see photo). Other key things to note: the cup cannot be put into a microwave oven, nor can it go into the dishwasher (hand wash only, I wouldn’t recommend submerging, although a quick dip in soapy water and a gentle rinse should be OK). Even though it comes with a lid for travel, note that this cup most likely will not fit into a car’s standard cup holder. The handle is such that the cup cannot nestle down inside the cup holder. But for moving from room to room, the lid can be a handy plus for this cup. Overall, this is a great cup that does keep a beverage at a good drinking temperature for several hours. 5 STARS AND I DO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM I write honest reviews based on real life experience with each item to help others make informed purchases. I read reviews too, and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that you find this review helpful!

6 mo lifespan
I really wanted to love this mug—and for the first six months, I did. It outperformed every other heated mug I’ve tried, including some of the most expensive brands. The battery life was excellent, the size was perfect, and it consistently kept my drink at the right temperature. Unfortunately, after about six months of careful use, it completely stopped working. It won’t charge, won’t heat, and won’t turn on. Even more concerning, the bottom of the mug became extremely hot—hot enough to potentially burn—which made me uneasy given the lithium battery inside. So while it delivered six months of excellent performance, the lifespan doesn’t justify the price. If it lasted longer, it would be an easy recommendation—but as it stands, it’s hard to overlook the durability issues.
