SOLARAY DAO Enzyme 60000 HDU, 30 VegCaps

I’ve been trying to be more mindful of histamine and wanted to add a DAO enzyme to my routine, especially before meals that may be higher in histamine. I liked that this one is plant based and comes from pea sprouts rather than an animal source. The capsules are easy to take and haven’t caused me any stomach upset or weird side effects. I also like that each capsule provides 60,000 HDU, so it feels like you’re getting a decent strength without having to take a bunch of capsules at once. I usually take it shortly before eating and so far I do feel like it helps, although I think this is definitely something you need to use consistently for a while before deciding how much of a difference it makes. My biggest complaint is the price for only 30 capsules. If you’re taking these regularly, you can go through the bottle pretty quickly, so I wish the count was higher for the money. Overall though, I’m happy with it so far and would purchase it again, especially because finding a good plant-based DAO option isn’t always easy.

Life saver! I was having an especially difficult time with alpha-gal syndrome with MCAS while having SAAT acupuncture. This made all foods easier to eat and try when reintroducing back into my diet. Will continue to use until all symptoms are gone. Grateful for this product!

I recently found out just how much perimenopause affects digestion and the gut biome and discovered by accident that I am lacking this enzyme. Not because my body doesn't produce it but because my gut is compromised and nearly everything I eat and drink blocks this enzyme from clearing the histamine from food and drink. So on top of starting a low histamine diet to reduce the load in my body overall, I'm taking this enzyme to deal with any histamine in the diet. **It only deals with what you eat at the time you take it, not the histamine already in your body.** I originally bought this at my local health food store but they were on backorder when it came time to buy again so I came here. The value for money is definitely better here; by $30 for the same exact thing. I did read in a few articles that there are no studies on the effectiveness of vegan ingredients for DAO (porcine ingredients have been tested and proven effective) and I may have to switch to a brand that offers the porcine option because even taking two of these before a meal isn't as effective as I need it to be due to the histamine load my body is holding on to. All that being said, if you only have minor reactions to food and drink I feel like this is a good option for you. If you're like me, you probably need to look into a porcine version. When I get through the four weeks of low histamine diet and porcine DAO and feel like everything is cleared out I will likely continue with this version.

I only suspect I have histamine intolerance. Expensive but much cheaper on Amazon than in Vitamin Shoppe. I only take when consuming high histamine foods.

This has become my go-to for times when I’m eating outside of my own kitchen. I love traveling and trying new restaurants, but I can’t always be sure how fresh the ingredients are or how the food is prepared. I keep this in my bag and take one before eating when I’m trying something outside my usual routine. I also appreciate that it’s plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free, which is important to me. It has made eating out and enjoying foods that I would normally avoid feel much more manageable. This is definitely something I take with me when I travel and one I plan to keep on hand!

My experience with this product has not been pleasant. Although, it might have been caused by one of my randomly connected ailments. I really wanted these to work because they're cheaper than the ones I usually use. I was also going out of town and could receive these on the next morning. Alas, it has not worked out. Firstly, I noticed them passing through with nary a nibble. The pill casing wasn't dissolving to the point of rupture. The casing seems thick. Then, one night around 8:00PM, I took one and ate a large apple, some olives and a few crackers. Over the next 10 hours I projectile vomited much more than I thought I had eaten. The last thing to come out? Sitting like a splayed king on his throne, the ruptured pill; still bloating. I'm honestly afraid to take it again. There were moments that scared me. It was a Monday night and now, Thursday night, and my stomach and diaphragm have finally stopped hurting and are just sore. Craziness but not for me apparently.

I can’t give a fair review because it could be a “me” thing. Certain foods trigger a huge histamine flair up. The days I took these proactively I saw a difference.
