In the year 1971, San Francisco faces the terror of a maniac known as Scorpio- who snipes innocent victims and demands ransom through notes left at the scene of the crime. Inspector Harry Callahan (known as Dirty Harry by his peers through his reputation handling homicidal cases) is assigned to the case along with his newest partner Inspector Chico Gonzalez to track down Scorpio and stop him. Using humiliation and cat and mouse type of games against Callahn, Scorpio is put to the test with the copy with a dirty attitude. Spectacular 4K
This is by far the best 4K movie of 2025, so far. The 8k scan of the original film really shines on this one. The biggest surprise for me was the audio, which was remastered. It is loud and clean. Dialogue is exceptional. I never appreciated the Dolby Atmos on a movie until now. The steel case is cool also. As far as the movie, it’s probably the best cop action movie of the seventies. If you collect 4k movies and like Dirty Harry, this is an absolute must buy. You can get the cheaper standard case version for a little less money.

This review pertains to the 4K UHD release by Warner Brothers
Not much more can be said about the classic 1971 film "Dirty Harry". It is a stone cold classic! While not quite my favorite film in the series, that would go to 1973's "Magnum Force" by a very slight margin, "Dirty Harry" is iconic and still hugely entertaining over 50 years later. Warner Brothers finally brings "Dirty Harry" to 4K UHD which presents the film in its original 2.40:1 aspect ratio on a triple layer 100 gigabyte disc. The transfer is sourced from an 8K scan of the original camera negative and features HDR10 only. Simply put "Dirty Harry" looks amazing on this 4K UHD release and quite possibly better than it looked during its original theatrical run. Detail is exemplary, contrast/black levels are perfect (I viewed the film on a LG C3 65" OLED by the way), and film grain has been managed a bit to avoid looking coarse but still highly filmic. While the lack of a Dolby Vision grading is slightly disappointing, I am not sure how much more it could have improved the already flawless HRD10 presentation on this release. Audio is presented in Dolby Atmos which folds down to true 7.1 along with the film's original theatrical mono audio track for purists. I thought the film sounded terrific either way. Everything sounded crisp and well defined to my ears. Extras are as follows: Audio Commentary by Richard Schickel Generations and Dirty Harry (HD – 6:15) Lensing Justice: The Cinematography of Dirty Harry (HD – 7:54) American Masters Career Retrospective: Clint Eastwood: Out of the Shadows (Upscaled SD – 96:57) Clint Eastwood: The Man from Malpaso (Upscaled SD – 58:07) Clint Eastwood: A Cinematic Legacy – Fighting for Justice (HD – 17:33) Interview Gallery: Patricia Clarkson (Upscaled SD – 2:04) Joel Cox (Upscaled SD – 3:34) Clint Eastwood (Upscaled SD – 5:38) Hal Holbrook (Upscaled SD – :42) Evan Kim (Upscaled SD – 2:08) John Milius (Upscaled SD – 3:45) Ted Post (Upscaled SD – 1:02) Andy Robinson (Upscaled SD – 2:03) Arnold Schwarzenegger (Upscaled SD – 3:02) Robert Urich (Upscaled SD – 2:40) Dirty Harry’s Way (HD – 6:58) Dirty Harry: The Original (Upscaled SD – 29:43) No standard blu-ray is included with this release by the way. "Dirty Harry" looks and sounds amazing on this 4K UHD release by Warner Brothers. This bodes very well for the remaining 4 films in the series hopefully making their way to the 4K UHD format as well. Highly recommended!

Do you feel lucky….
It is hard to believe that this movie is almost 55 years old. It holds up well as one of the first of a genre. Watching it in 4K is great, crisp and clear. A classic that never gets old…

A Great Dirty Harry movie.
A great first entry in the Dirty Harry movie series with the no holds barred, out for justice cop hunting a deranged serial killer/child abductor, who is terrorising San Fransisco. The great one liners "Do you feel lucky punk", or did I fire five shots or six the film is a real thriller ride throughout the movie. Well worth buying from amazon.com. 10 out of 10. Item arrived two weeks ago.
