How long can the Wilderness canned kitten food be left out after opening?

These answers, though old, are wholly inaccurate! My veterinarian has said, cats don't like cold food. In the wild, their prey is warm, therefore, refrigeration is discouraged. Cover the can with a cat food lid, or place inside a sealed plastic container (not a ziplock type bag, but like a Tupperware bowl) and leave on counter, or inside a cabinet out of sight. Canned food can be left out for up to 48 hours, in the average air conditioned home (72-75 degrees fahrenheit) without spoilage or contamination. If your home is kept at a higher temp, or you lack A/C, then I'm afraid you may have to resort to refrigeration to prevent spoilage. But even in those conditions, if you know you'll use the entire can in a day (no more than 12-24 hours), it is fine to keep at room temperature as stated above.

Are these good for older cats who need some weight?

This is definitely fine for older cats who need to gain weight. Many foods for kittens ars higher in calories as well as protein (in most). For an underweight older cat, this is a great way to pack on a few ounces. It should only be used, however, until the target weight is achieved. Use of it after can make your older kitty overweight, and we don't want that, esp in a older furry friend. Hope that helps. Have a great day!
