Bring a Parisian je ne sais quoi to your style, wherever you live. Dress Like a Parisian is a wise and witty guide to finding your personal style, taking inspiration from how real Parisian women dress. With personal stylist and fashion blogger Aloïs Guinut as your guide, you can explore which colors, shapes and styles work best for you, whatever the occasion. Aloïs reveals Parisian style secrets, rejects restrictive fashion rules and shares her favorite shops and brands, demonstrating how you can use fashion to enhance your personality rather than shaping your personality to fashion. In the words of the patron saint of Parisian women, Yves St. Laurent, 'fashions fade, style is eternal.' This book is illustrated with photography shot on the streets of Paris plus illustrations by acclaimed fashion illustrator, Judith van den Hoek, who has worked with Elle, Hermes, Vogue, Prada and Grazia . Review: Highly recommended! (From the Author of Parisian Charm School) - This is a must-have book for every woman who cares about fashion, style and all things Parisian. I absolutely adored "Dress Like a Parisian" and learned so much about how to develop my own unique style, how to add artful details to a look, chose quality basics and how to mix up high and low fashion. The illustrations are fabulous and Alois Guinut is a wonderful writer--funny, conversational and incredibly insightful and knowledgeable. I will keep my copy on my Francophile bookshelf and buy lots more copies as gifts. I highly recommend "Dress Like a Parisian"! Review: Love this book! - So many books of this kind are so vague about style and when you get to body types, they us examples of fruit to describe body shapes. Most people do not look like fruits. In any event, while it does occasionally go off to the elusive, it is one of the most grounded and informative fashion and style advice books I have read. It is a solid base for assisting anyone in putting their looks together as themselves, not as a prototype. I will refer to it often.

I LOVE this book!
I have so many page markers and note stickers on so many pages of this book, it's not even funny! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found if to be very helpful, easy to incorporate, practical and not pretentious. I do wish there were a few more photos to showcase the authors suggestions, but there are a good number of them and the illustrations are lovely. This, along with my Ines De La Fressange books, are my favorite of this genre!

Detailed instructions, not just a verbal ode to Frenchness
I am absolutely thrilled with this book. After reading Paris street Style, I was hooked on the subject but wanted more pictures and advice than just wordy descriptions and glowing accolades. This book certainly delivers with numerous photos, details, and particular applications of pattern, color, fit, etc.. I’ve read it several times since and plan keep it for sometime.

Exceptional content, exceptionally hard to read on Kindle!!!!
The book's content is fantastic, hugely informative, lots of tips, how to's and styling ideas - I'm loving it so far, but it's really really rubbish reading it on a Kindle which is why I only rated it four stars. Three would be too low and five too high for the Kindle experience. You can't make the font bigger - the only way to read it is to enlarge the full page as one would a photo or image so that the font is legible and then once you've got it right, scroll up and down and sideways to read it. If you forget which way you were moving - or go too far - you end up on the previous or next page. Most frustrating!!!!! I'm ploughing through it though because I really do want to read it - am only halfway through the Prints chapter and have learned so much already. Just wish I could highlight and make notes ... that text is fixed for good!

Super helpful
I am not usually moved to write reviews, nor do I have any particular interest in dressing like a Parisian. I had many individual pieces that I love and fit well but somehow couldn't figure out how to wear them -- and style books seemed to advise a complete closet overhaul, usually in the image of the author. I picked this book on a whim even though I had misgivings about the title. This book sets itself apart by giving very concrete and applicable ideas on how to style items based on colour, cut, texture etc. I have already started wearing several things that were in the back of the closet for years, without having to do any additional shopping at all. And I also now have a very tight list of things I could buy that will make all the rest get even more use. What more can I say? Great book, highly recommend.
