Oncidium Sharry Baby is a cross between Oncidium Jamie Sutton (Oncidium sotoanum x Oncidium anthocrene) and Oncidium Honolulu (Oncidium leuchochilum x Oncidium altissimum). The Sharry Baby is also known as the chocolate orchid and not for its colors, but for its fragrance.Oct 8, 2018

Thanks for your interest! The way you're watering your Phalaenopsis is actually a good way to grow Phals. For this Oncidium, it should be OK, too, depending on your growing conditions, temperature, humidity, etc. Generally, watering about twice per week works well. Drying out now and then is NOT a bad thing, contrary to the conventional wisdom you might find on the internet, where everyone has an opinion and is, therefore, automatically an expert just because they've grown a couple of vaguely related plants... The reason drying out the media is a GOOD thing on occasion is that it prevents root rot from the root zone staying too wet. A very important factor in growing orchids well is striking the optimal balance between wet and dry at the root zone, especially for epiphytic (i.e., growing on trees) orchids, like Oncidiums or Phalaenopsis.
