Iron Maiden's fourth studio album, Piece of Mind, was released in 1983 and reached #14 on the Billboard 200. The certified-platinum release includes the iconic tracks, "The Trooper" and "Flight of Icarus." The 2015 remaster is available on vinyl for the first time. 180g LP. Review: Iron maiden piece of mind vinyl - This is a great album and one of my favorite albums, it rock's from start to finish, a must have. Review: "ABSOLUTELY A MASTERPIECE" - THE BAND: Bruce Dickinson- Vocals (Amazing vocalist with a unique voice) Steve Harris- Bass (Arguably the best heavy metal bassist around) Adrian Smith- Lead/Rhythm Guitars (Great melodic, bluesy solos) Dave Murray- Lead/Rhythm Guitars (Great shredding solos) Nicko McBrain- Drums (Awesome drummer) THE TRACKS:The album contains literature quotes, songs about famous books/movies fusioned in great heavy metal sound.Masterfully produce and mixed by Martin Birch -Where Eagles Dare:Repeats the story of the same-titled Clint Eastwood movie. The song starts out with a pulse-like, emotional beat, and is followed by a heavy and catchy (although predictable) riff. The drumms sound amazing -Revelations:This song starts out with a hymnal passage of some sort.Is an atmospheric song, that manages to be both dark and beautiful. Bruce's performance here is amazing. -Flight of Icarus:The most emotional song of the album, that was so good that people that are not into metal at all tend to like it very much. The pre-chorus/chorus kind of runs together in an awesome display of underlying bass -Die With Your Boots On: This song is probably the one that suffers the least from the hard-rock guitar.Good lyrics, amazing drums, the vocals(Harris and Smith do some nice backup, by the way)are among the best, and even the guitar is unique in this amazing song. -The Trooper:This is one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs ever. The call-to-arms opening riff and the galloping bass lines fit so well with the lyrics of a soldier's futile battle that it brings shivers to my spine almost every time. -Still Life:Is one of the songs that most benefits from double guitars. The chorus are simple, but don't deny the power this song holds over your ears! -Quest For Fire:The most anachronistic song of the disc. The voice of Dickinson reaches the high notes of all the album. -Sun and Steel:Other great song, incorporate some galloping rhythms into it, which is always a plus for me. -To Tame a Land:In the grand tradition of epic closers. It's based off of the book "Dune," which I haven't read. But the theme is evident in that Egyptian scale also found in the band's title track to "Powerslave," so you'll get a feeling for it. ****FINAL NOTES***: I BUY THE "RAW POWER" IMPORTED VERSION CD FOR ONLY $4 BUCKS,WITH THE SELLER "BIG BOX BARGAIN",THATS WHY I LIKE TO BUY IN desertcart.

Vinyl audiophiles: a tale of 3 pressings!
I have 3 pressings of this vinyl: a clean original from 1983, a new copy of the older remastering, and the 2015 remastering released on vinyl in 2025. I compared these 3 versions on a $9000 stereo. The older remastering is flawed by having the vocals on side 2 skewed off to the right very badly. Don't buy that one! The 2015 remastering released on vinyl in 2025 sounds absolutely fantastic. Steve Harris's bass is brought out in the mix in a welcome and improved way. Wonderful. Then I played the original from 1983. The 1983 pressing does not have a good a sound quality as the 2015 remastering. The sound is more in-your-face, not in a good way. No doubt about it: the 2015 remastering released in 2025 is definitely the best sounding vinyl release of Piece of Mind!

Iron Maiden on vinyl!
One of my favorite Iron Maiden albums and even though I have this on CD on a whim I decided the other night to order this. I'm always a little skittish when it comes to buying new vinyl because of all the quality control issues they seem to have. However that isn't the case with this one. The cover had no flaws and is gorgeous. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the inner sleeve was decent though I'm still replacing it with a different one. The record itself is very good though not perfect. Side 2 has some very minor cosmetic flaws but thankfully it doesn't affect play and there is very little to no warp so I'm definitely keeping it. As mentioned in another review the album plays a little quiet (duh, good excuse to turn it up!) but otherwise sounds and plays great. Very happy with this purchase and look forward to having it in my record collection. Get this while they are still pressing it and available.

Four great tracks, and one really awful one!
This, of course is the first Iron Maiden album featuring the "classic" lineup of Steve, Dave, Adrian, Bruce and Nicko. For that reason alone, Piece of Mind is worth owning, although of the four albums this lineup did this is the weakest in my opinion. But I have to say that this albums good moments are really, really good. The track arrangement is, in my opinion, a little goofy; they start off with "Where Eagles Dare", which gets the album galloping along, only to follow it with "Revelations." It's a great song, but it stalls the album's momentum. But that's only temporary, from "Flight of Icarus" through "The Trooper" the album just rolls right along. Okay, now for the really bad part. Three words: "Quest for Fire." This is easily the cheesiest song in the entire Maiden catalog (as I recall, the film of the same name is also pretty bad). If you want the whole catalog, well, you gotta buy this one anyway. But, at least for tracks 2-5, it's worth having.

Mi álbum favorito de Iron Maiden ahora remasterizado, se escucha excelente

I am guilty of an appalling oversight here - Piece of Mind is now safely embedded into my top 5 ever Iron maiden albums - I recently decided to fill in the few gaps in my Maiden voyage (been a fan since around 1989 when I was 10 and have a taste for it again since BOSOULS is so great) and this along with Powerslave were my two shames - I may have briefly come across them whilst lapping up the wonderful Beast, Seventh Son, Somewhere in Time.....etc..........but these I missed and oh how I feel the shame right now.......especially with this album. Revelations is such a suitable name because that track alone is a revelation - at its heart it contains everything i love about this band, the operatic metal, the spine tingling arrangements, the acoustic sections which counterpoint the strumming layered guitars.......WOw! Do not make the mistake of ignoring this album........ Speaking objectively (since Ive only been listening to these two albums for the last week) Piece of Mind is the masterpiece of the two - Powerslave is good - but has to sit on the edge of my top five because I think the others contain more iconic moments and overall contain more focussed musical genius.....so without further ado here is my re-corrected (after 30 years of being fan) MAIDEN TOP ALBUMS EVER that you should check out if you are a newbie..... 1 The Number of The Beast (THE ALBUM) 2 The Book Of Souls (almost THE ALBUM - but BEAST has the history) 3 Piece Of Mind (a REVELATION - contains my new fave tracks ever) 4 Seventh Son of the Seventh Son (one of the strongest full of classics) 5 Somewhere in Time (full of catchy choruses - some of the best lyrics of all the albums) 6 Fear Of The Dark (The last of the iconic records from their first peak years - now is their new peak era of course.....) 7 Powerslave (love R of the A Mariner but for me I cant see how it tops the above musically as an album- not the biggest Aces high fan either- though it is quality)
