Yuki Sichuan Doubanjiang 130g

My boyfriend and I cooked with this broad bean paste last night and it made the BEST Ma Po Tofu I have ever eaten, way better than what they serve at restaurants in my opinion. The flavor is really incredible and it packs some serious heat, we also love that the paste is already pre-minced! Even though it is a tiny jar, due to how strong the flavor and spiciness is, it should last you at least 3-6 meals which honestly isn't that bad at all when you break down the price. The best part about cooking with this broad bean paste at home is that I don't need to worry about whether the broad bean paste is safe for me or not - gluten is not safe for me and is present in almost all broad bean paste except for this delicious brand from Japan. As is common with Japanese foods, this brand is also free from gnarly preservatives and chemicals, and tastes wonderful. I actually found this paste to be much spicier than the Chinese ones and so I will use half as much paste in my Ma Po Tofu recipe next time - I absolutely love spicy food but even for me this was a bit too much spice, although after eating it I felt refreshingly cool. 😅

I know there's only a little left but I had to test it first. It was so good I almost forgot to write a review before I finished eating it all 😊. A little bit goes a long way, it's very salty alone. Mixed in it is full of flavor as well as the perfect combination of richness and heat. It's a very warm but not hot and the warmth lingers for quite a while. Definitely not overwhelming in any way but extremely good.

Love this stuff! I use it to make Mapo Tofu and a little goes a long way. It’s a small jar but a couple of teaspoons is all I need to make a nice spicy dish. Delivery is quick and wrapped in bubble-wrap.

My husband lived in Sichuan and was looking for authentic doubanjiang- but we needed it to be gluten free. This one check the box of GF! It’s super close to authentic - pretty spicy, but not overpowering. Definitely recommend for those of us GF people!

Delicious! I am so glad this brand does not have gluten, so I can still make and eat recipes requiring Doubanjiang. The jar is small and the price might seem high, but the quality and taste makes it worth it: a little goes a long way. I like this so much that I have it as an Amazon subscription!

Made my mapo tofu perfect! I use less than recipe required due to my family’s spice tolerance.

Very small which is my fault I supposefor not checking. Still, its expensive for what you get.

豆板醤ってなんでも同じって思ってたけど、エビチリの味がイマイチ好きな味にならなくて色々試してた時にこちらに変えてみたら、バチっと好みの味にきまりました。 味は辛め、濃いめで、深みが出る感じがします。 そら豆のタネ気になる方にもおすすめ。 私はあれが嫌な方なのですが、これは、気になりません。

近隣のスーパーで扱わなくなったのでとても助かる。頻繁に使う訳ではないので、このサイズでもかなり持つ。
