Useless
Did not like the fact that you need an app, and adding a subscription within the app is just not reasonable whatsoever. I have found an old sound machine off ebay that does the job for me better than whatever this is. If you want a funky alarm clock sure, but I thought since it was so new the technology on this thing would stand out, and it didn't. Id rather fall asleep to the other machine I just purchased. There is stuff on the app that helps you fall asleep/study, but it just doesn't feel right when they're asking for more of your money.

Buy the old one and put some fabric on it to match your room.
The older hatch was 1000 times better. They made this one look esthetic but the features are a 0 out of 10. First issue is you only get three soundโs without a subscription (rain, harder rain, and ocean). The old free sounds from the previous model are not an option, and they had several free sounds to choose from. They already had access to the sounds they are just giving you less to take more from you in a subscription. Second, in the previous model you could have a light and sound turn on, and set the light to turn off after a certain amount of time, as a preset option by touching the top. This allowed you to turn on the dim light and sound to relax for 30 minutes while you get into bed and go slowly into a dark room with sound all night. Alternatively you could also have it turn the light on at a preset time while the sounds were still going from your evening setting. The new machine is either on or off. You can play the sound all night but if you want the light on with the sound you have to go in and manually turn the light on after the sound and then go turn it back off when ready for bed which is just not as relaxing. Who wants a last minute blue light hitting your face to turn off the light. I sent a message to them asking if I was missing a setting and they said the feature was removed. Over all this is junk compared to their old models I would not recommend.

Overpriced, bad product
Overall, I would not recommend. The product is good when it works but has enough flaws and drawbacks for the price point to not be justified. Firstly, the sounds and offerings are extremely limited unless you get Hatch+, which isnโt a huge monthly fee but shouldnโt be necessary after spending $170 on this. Second, the app is buggy. Interface is simple and useful but overall user experience is imperfect. It is very easy to accidentally change your alarm time from AM to PM, lags are frequent, etc. Lastly, my Hatch now wonโt connect to my phone rendering it largely useless. The frustration I now have to go through to troubleshoot and connect again (which has not been successful so far) is maddening considering the price I paid for this device.

Very disappointed in Hatch company! Good machine, bad company!
The light part of the machine and sound is awesome, however, the company Hatch blocks everything except the color sounds after the trial period and to add insult they make it very difficult to remove the trial residue. There are zero free unwind routines and offer samples which will expire and the Hatch company will go after you again hounding you for the membership. The worst is the sleep unwinds SUK! On some of unwinds the person's accents are so heavy you can't understand what the hell they are saying. The stories are simple and IMO stupid. I did like the stretch exercises. The soft music is generic and IMO it's someone just hitting a few keys on the piano, maybe the custodian. Too much $ for this kind of value without membership. You are best served with a machine that has color sounds. Hatch is deceptive in their advertisement of their product not telling you that you get very little without the membership. I would pay the membership if I thought it was worth the $50 a year. It is NOT!

WARNING: subscription required๐๐ป
The alarm itself is fine, nothing special. The light actually glitches when itโs charging colors, which is disappointing for a $150+ alarm clock. HERE is the problem. My husband bought me this wonderful, overpriced alarm clock for Christmas because of the sunrise feature. I was so excited. I download the app, set it upโ and then lo and behold, โwelcome to hatch! where you actually have to pay monthly to use your $150 alarm clockโ. Iโm sorry? Pay? Did you also want a kidney for collateral, or can I keep that? Last time I checked I did PAY. So, my question for Hatchโฆ if I have to pay monthly to utilize almost ANY feature of this Temu quality alarm clock, why did I pay $150 for it to begin with? You just turned a $150 alarm clock into a $270 (for two years of use) alarm clock. At this point, Iโm just gonna have to start utilizing the real sun to wake up, since apparently thatโs the only gradual alarm clock thatโs affordable. NOTHING worth it about this alarm clock or the subscription. Very disappointing.

Mandatory account and subscription needed to use
You cannot even do something as trivial as setting an alarm or the time without a cloud account in their system. There's also no option to provide your own alarm sounds, you can only choose from their very limited library of sounds. This thing has all the technology necessary to be a good alarm clock but it's rendered completely useless by their horrible app experience. It's extremely over-optimized for one type of experience/user with very limited options for customization of the sleep or alarm process. Mandatory account setup and subscription required is a complete deal-breaker. Returned immediately. I don't understand why they can't just remove some of these barriers like the required account and lack of customization choices so they can sell to more users, seems like they're only interested in one very specific type of user (the kind that is very gullible and easily ripped off/too much money on their hands that they don't mind subscribing to an alarm clock service). Third party music app support would be nice and shouldn't be blocked behind a paywall (it would require no cloud/server resources from hatch) I think the designers on this product are completely delusional and they could have built an alarm clock that didn't rely on hatch servers for everything

Useless if you donโt want to pay the subscription
I liked this at first because I love waking up slowly with the light, however the moment I canceled my subscription it completely stopped working. First of all I set up my alarm with a sound that itโs supposed to be included without a subscription and it wonโt play it. It automatically defaulted to al basic alarm sound that I did not configure. I tried deleting the alarms and re doing it and Iโm still having the same issue. The rain sleep sound which is also supposed to be included without a membership, wonโt play at all, even after multiple restarts and reconfigurations. This is terrible. Not only your options are limited if you donโt pay a subscription, but the options you have wonโt even work either. Customer service is non existent, their number blatantly says they wonโt accept calls, and there isnโt even an email listed anywhere. I cannot believe I paid $170 to be scammed like this and forced to pay for a subscription if I want a working product. This is unacceptable!! Any off brand clock would be better than this. Save your money and donโt buy this!!

Expensive alarm clockโฆ with a subscription trap
I bought this expecting a premium sunrise alarm clock. Instead, I got a $170 device that immediately asks for a subscription. The hardware itself is fine, but most of the features that make this product interesting are locked behind Hatchโs subscription. And their โfree trialโ isnโt even really risk free. You still have to enter your credit card just to try it for 7 days, which feels less like a trial and more like theyโre hoping you forget to cancel so they can charge you later. Also, why does an alarm clock need to be this complicated? Everything has to go through the app. Want to change a setting? Open the app. Want to adjust routines? Open the app. For something thatโs supposed to make mornings easier, it feels like a lot of unnecessary friction. At the end of the day, itโs basically a fancy lamp and a basic alarm clock unless you keep paying them every month. For the price theyโre charging, thatโs pretty ridiculous. I returned it.

Misleading and disappointing
Very disappointing. The hardware is good but the app is unusable. There is a lot of potential in this product but they will only realise it when they throw out the current app and rebuild it with ease of use and flexibility in mind. Honestly this industry is begging for a competitor to come in and show us how this can be done well. Unfortunately Hatch is not that (yet? ๐ค). I'd love to return my Hatch 3 and wait for that competitor, maybe they never come but this $200 disappointment is not bringing me any joy.

Highly recommend!
Absolutely LOVE my hatch alarm. I donโt regret it one bit! My only con is that the app lags.
