Mystical City of God: Volume I-IV

I love these books. They are beautiful and well put together. I love the feel of the coverings of these books (it’s a type of thin cloth). Of course, what these books contain is very important, very powerful, and very beautiful. I highly recommend that everyone read these books. They will foster a deeper love of Our Lady and Our Lord, Jesus Christ as well as a deeper love of God, our Father and the Holy Spirit, Giver of Live and Sanctifier! This will bring about a deeper, more profound relationship with God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), as well as with our Lady! I have but one complaint, when I received my books and opened the package, I noticed that there is a small tear at the bottom of the spine of volume I (see attached picture). However, it isn’t bad and so if Amazon can live with selling things such as this, so can I. Amazon usually sells and ships good quality books. A quick story on how God works and grants us what is pleasing to Him and what will be of benefit for our sanctification: I had wanted these books for a long while, they were $108 when I didn’t have the extra money to buy them. Once I had the extra money, they were $138. Now, I prayed that if it is the Will of God that I get these books, please let the price go back to what it was previously, or at least close to it. Wouldn’t you know, the very next day, actually only about 12 hours later, the price fell to $108!!! So, of course I bought them, and just a few hours later the price had increased to nearly $125. The point is, pray and God will hear you! I know these books are truly from our Lord and our Lady, otherwise He wouldn’t have wanted me to purchase them!!!

I cannot put these volumes down. If you want to understand the advocacy of Our Lady on humanity’s half, read this set. I am almost finished with Volume II. I can’t wait to start Volume III. Our Lady explains so beautifully the relationship between the Trinity and human creatures and why we must revere, honor, and serve God. Her virtues are what we must imitate. She is humble, loving, kind, merciful, charitable, has no ego, has no sin.

Amazing edition and amazing books to read. 10/10.

I read the first volume for free from a download on a reading app but I found so many things that I wanted to save that I decided having the hard copies was the most efficient way to highlight important things that I wanted to return to. Other than the Bible, this is the single most enlightening Catholic book I have read. Through multiple references to the Bible, it opens up an understanding to many of the Scriptures that I never fully understood. Whenever there was a Biblical reference, I’d look it up as I was reading and was amazed at the depth of knowledge that I was able to gain. It’s an older book and particularly with the Psalms it is often easier to use a Douay Rheims translation. Even with that it was sometimes frustrating because the reference was periodically incorrect. Most of the time I could find the correct passage but not always. That was the only drawback. At times I read fifty pages a day but found one chapter per day a better pace for me to fully absorb the lessons of the chapter. I wish every Catholic would read this and better understand the sacrifices our Holy Queen made for us and also see her as the preeminent example of imitating the life of Christ. This book helped me grow in my faith and drew me closer to God. I pray for the same for everyone who chooses to make this pilgrimage. God be with you.

Excellent gift!

Spent a lot of time digging through the old libraries in Spain: Tanquerey Spiritual Life, Carmelite Devotion Book from 1899 and lo!! - (2) 600+ page rare books on The Immaculate Conception. One from 1895, the other from 1621! Mystical City of God is the follow-up to the 1621 tome and was first published around 1660.. These are beautiful hardcovers, lucid, easy on the eyes text and papers. Quality books. Goes well with Revelations of Saint Bridgette. Jewels.

This is the most wonderful, and beautiful book I've ever read after the Bible. If you want to know why God has exalted Our Lady to the highest possible degree of glory in heaven, then you will know why after reading this book. No other human creature(Our Lord is not a creature, He is God-Man) has loved,worshipped, and respected God as Most Holy Mary. No other creature has loved Christ as Mary has done . God has received more honor from her than from the whole of creation. She is the masterpiece of the Most Holy Trinity. The most perfect of Christ's disciples. This book contains counsels given by the virgin Mary to Ven.Mary of agreda,that we can imitate. I have understood many things. For example, the gospels don't contradict each other,the evangelists simply omitted what the other writer wrote. St.Matthew spoke about the Magi kings,and St.luke about the presentation of Jesus and omitted writing about the the there Wise men because St.Matthew had already wrote about them. They knew what each other had written. The Mystical city of God is approved to read by the catholic church,it was placed on the index of forbidden books(like St.Faustina's diary) because of a mistranslation. The Mystical city of God is the most approved book outside of the Bible in the catholic church. If you don't believe me, look for information. Mary of agreda's body is incorrupt in the convent of agreda in Spain. She was said to have bilocated to New Mexico before the missionaries arrived and she was called the "Lady in blue",the habit of her order is blue. I don't understand why she hasn't been canonized, certainly the devil doesn't want people to know more about this wonderful gem of a book.

My favorite books. Beautifully written. A spiritual treasure.

I read several chapters of this book online and I found it very interesting so I decided to get my own hardcopies. The books have sewn binding so I know that they will last. The design of the spine also makes the books look good on display. The Mystical City of God is a private revelation from the Virgin Mary to Venerable Mary of Agreda. According to the "Special Notice To The Reader" on the first volume, the Catholic Church has not given public and full approval to private revelations of any kind because that would be an addition to the deposit of faith left by Christ. However, the Church tacitly and indirectly approved many private revelations, including this one. The Mystical City of God has the imprimatur from the Catholic Church, which means that it does not contradict the teachings of the Church in matters of faith and morals. It is my opinion that many Catholic readers will agree with me that even if someone does not believe that the stories on the four volumes of this book came from Heaven, that person will agree that what the four volumes contain are plausible. This book has personal meaning to me because it helped me grow in my faith and spiritually. In addition, this book is a page turner! I highly recommend it to everyone.

Amazing

Not worth $176. Bent at edges, plastic torn. Parcel wrapping was 4 times bigger with zero protection for the book! How can you not bubble wrap or use a hard cardboard to protect the books or smth during shipping? It arrived in such poor condition! Book is slightly smaller than the abridged version. While the outer cover is pretty, I don’t feel it’s worth THAT much. There isnt even a ribbon marker, come on now. I adore the abridged version and HAD to get the full set. You will read scripture with new eyes after reading this. Moved my heart so greatly and I fall deeper in love with our Lord and Blessed Mother.
