The Secret of Black Rock

Used this book with my class and they loved it, great story and lots of discussions to have. Illustrations are also lovely.

As a teacher this is one of the best books I have ever read to students. Both KS1 and 2. There is stuff in there for all. The illustrations are amazingly done, the story is thought provoking and moving and it's obvious why it's won what it has won

I bought this book to read with my class of Y3s this year. It is the perfect balance of being accessible but challenging - there is some great vocab in there that will be new to them that can act as a teaching point, as can the deeper overall message of the book. Even if your child is not yet ready to access the environmental message, there is still much to be said for its themes on kindness and acceptance. All of this paired with the most wonderful illustrations! It will certainly be one that we read time and time again.

Impressive pictures and storyline. I got this for a boy who will soon be 4. The story and pictures are a bit more challenging than other books at this age, and there are lots of animals and things to talk about in the pictures. It also has a good message about caring for the world. More please.

A great little book with beautiful illustrations to match.

Brought for my school planning but this is an excellent book full of discoveries and new vocabulary young children vary rarely come across. An exciting tale that my own children were thoroughly engaged with and eager to find out more. Super illustrations and twists in the story.

This is such a clever satisfying book. Perfect for slightly older picture book readers - full of gorgeous illustrations, and with a really satisfying story at its heart. A favourite.

My kid asked me to read this story every night after we took it home from the library. Now she has to rotate through the rest of this author's catalog, but the Secret of Black Rock is still one of her favorites

I love the fact the illustrations are so bright, bold and explain every aspect of the story. They remind me of Tintin and it's a mix of graphic novel/picture book that my students love!

Hacía tiempo que no leía una historia tan cautivadora. Te atrapa desde el principio y mantiene tu atención hasta el final. Las ilustraciones que la acompañan son fantásticas con mucho colorido, y la calidad del papel es espectacular: como en otros tiempos. Sin duda, compraré más libros de este autor.

Story line is good the pictures are also good. Not bright though paper quality could have been glossy type like the ones in tintin then the art would've been amazing. Very expensive. Bought it based on reviews but not worth the amount .
