My husband used some on his neck and I used some on my lower back and we both feel that it definitely took the edge off of the pain! As for the back brace, I found it to be very simple to use. It forces my posture to be better which prevents me from bending the wrong way and causing pain. When I’m wearing it, I can definitely tell that my back is being supported and the pain is much less prominent. My only complaint is that I found that I had to wear it over all of my clothing instead of under it because the material was a little scratchy on my skin. I also wish it went a little father up my torso.
