Absolutely loved! My students have really responded to the quick writes without the pressure of having a finished product by the time our writing block is finished.

I love these! I teach high school English in an alternative school, attendance and behavior is sporadic at best. This book is a lifesaver, the pages come with a poem or excerpt and space to start writing - each page has a sidebar with instructions. Ideally, I use these as a pre write but realistically , my students complete these for participation , then work on a final copy to submit for a grade. Great resource in the classroom.

Some very powerful poems, and writing but need to be read prior to reading aloud because some content is a bit mature for my 10 year olds!!

Great Book to teach writing. The quickwrites are interesting and fun.

This text offers 100 mentor texts, ideas for quick writes and "Try this" options to motivate your most reluctant writers in secondary schools. The organization by categories allows a teacher to expand a theme or essential question. These four categories invite student writers to find their voices and let their ideas fly: Seeing Inward, Leaning Outward, Beyond Self, and Looking Back. This is a "must have" resource for your secondary classroom!

The texts in this books are varied and immediately useful. My only regret is that it was on my desk in the classroom when our school was hit by the recent tornado and it was soaked/ruined. It is on my list to repurchase!

Great book. I love how it's broken up into categories and provides great mentor texts. The prompts are pretty well written, but some repeat with multiple mentor texts.

I had the great pleasure of taking a writing class with Linda and she is the best presenter. This is probably my favorite book yet. It is SO practical. After reading the first chapter, I had a lesson all ready for the first day of school. Well worth the price!!!

This is a wonderful resource for teachers who are beginning to apply the writer's notebook in their classroom.

Excellent for high school.

The book is very good; there are plenty of excellent mentor texts here (though a handful double up from Rief's other quick write text), as well as guidelines for how students should use them. Unfortunately, the print quality is garbage - the paper is thin and low quality, the text is faded, and you can see the print lines in the colour borders.
