From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. DUNE: PROPHECY is inspired by the novel SISTERHOOD OF DUNE, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Review: Good series - Enjoyable Review: Excellent Primer - I've been a Dune freak since it was require reading in my Problems in American Democracy class in high school in 1970, this is fantastic in that it fleshs out the back story so events in Paul Atradies time make sense. The story sticks pretty close to the world building Frank Herbert and his son Brian have done. Background on the Bene Jeserit and their rule bending single minded pursuit of the breading program is invaluable. The origins of the Atradies Harkonen fued gives the rivalry a better perspective into the Dune universe.

Dune Prophecy Is a Nice Sci Fi Drama
Because I cancelled my Xfinity subscription due to the high costs of TV access I didn't have the opportunity to watch Dune Prophecy on HBO, so I went by the reviews of people on Amazon to decide whether of not to buy Dune Prophecy Season One in 4K. I'm not going to go into great detail about the plot, which is a prequel to the Dune of Paul Atraides period, but sufficed to say there's a great detail of intrigue and infighting between the various characters and houses of the Dune world. I will say the film is a high quality 4K visual, as the soundtrack is equally as great! Dune Prophecy reminds me of the quality of HBO's Game of Thrones franchise in both film quality, sets and actors. I highly recommend it for those who are fans of the Dune universe and don't mind a lot of plot intrigue over the typical battles that aren't high lighted until the last episode.

Engaging prequel to Frank Herbert and Denis Villeneuve's Dune Universe; the nascent Bene Gesserit.
This is a well made and acted prequel mini-series to the Dune Universe of Frank Herbert and Denis Villeneuve. About a century after the Butlerian anti=thinking machine jihad and10,0000 years prior to the events and life of Paul Atreides, court intrigues abound, spoiled and decadent nobles plot, a mysterious stranger with unsuspected origin enters and the efforts of two deeply troubled Harkonnen sisters to rewrite family history and control the nascent Bene Gesserit Sisterhood begin. Some nice surprises and twists. Very good performances, good costumes, music and cinematography, but not quite the production level of a motion picture, obviously, some redressing of previously used sets and a little corner cutting but a fascinating tale. I am surprised how little technology has changed in 10,000 years of Dune history, all the work horse spaceships, suspensors, shields and codes of conduct are already in place. Overall, even darker in tone than Dune itself. Recommended and I eagerly await more.

Worth waiting for.
This fits into the Dune universe very well. Although it does not follow exactly the book by Brian Herbers and Kevin J Anderson "Sisterhood of Dune", it takes many of the ideas from the novel. For Dune enthusiasts this is a work of love. For those who have little or limited knowledge of Dune this would be like a person who knew nothing about world history buying a book on "The War of 1812," i.e., you know nothing about this universe and so the series may not make much sense. All of the extras that come with the DVDs or Blu-rays make it even more worthwhile with its background material for the HBO series. Looking forward with great anticipation to the continuing series. Season 2 is already committed.

"Sisterhood above all"!
A fantastic series! Can't wait for next season. If you are a DUNE fan then you will be somewhat surprised at how well thought out this was written and conceived. Great performances by the cast and very interesting!

Frank Herbert Fans, Rejoice!
For Dune fans, this is long awaited and satisfying. I have been a fan of this property for forty years and this incarnation, along with the Villeneuve films have largely done right by it. The cast is spectacular, the settings lush and huge, considering it's a tv show and the plots are appropriately complex and satisfying. Non-fans may struggle to follow some of the more complicated concepts of the Frank Herbert books, but honestly, this show is for Dune fans. While they try to clarify all the details, it's likely that the show runners assumed that most viewers had at least a passing familiarity with the books as well as the movies. Casual viewers are unlikely to get as much out of it.

Buena compra pero...
Buena compra, la oferta lo valió. Sólo que vino con el slipcover un poco maltratado.

Good show, ok casing
Two of the Legends of Dune prequels, with echoes from the other two. Too bad they didn't start with the beginning, the Butlerian Jihad, but the CGI must have been too much. Maybe that can be done as anime? Any Dune is a move in the right direction, especially if they stop rebooting the first 3 books. Now we have 3 theatrical versions of the original trilogy, and they were all good except for the end of the Laurentis version trying to skip straight to the end of God Emperor. The package arrived on time and is decently put together.

The first season quite good
I think like the modern movies, you do have to concentrate a bit. I was actually surprised with the number of discs. They sit one on top of the other in pairs. About 60+ minutes of extras. Nothing really earth shattering.
