The Spectrum Handbook

Good quality paperback. The text is clear and is written in good concise language. Takes you step by baby step into typing and understanding spectrum basic and what looks like a bit beyond (machine code). Only just started this book but already happy with the way the author leads you down this computer learning path. Just getting my original 48k spectrum back up and working, very pleased with my stroll down memory lane, and already learning new things...brilliant. If you have the original basic user manual but find some concepts difficult then this book is for you. It teaches you in an easy to understand way, using a more day to day style of talking. Side note: there are some minor typo's in here, so just keep a keen eye and all will be good.

Une réédition 2024 d'un manuel de programmation d'époque. J'ai la chance de posséder un ZX spectrum en état de marche, et de pouvoir tester toutes ces astuces de programmation de jeux. Il est en anglais, mais les listings aussi, puisqu'ils sont en basic 🤣🤣🤣

I found this a good book to get programming on the Retro Games The Spectrum. A bit dated and some of the programmes have errors but this is highlighted in the introduction. Needs to be used in conjunction with The Spectrum User Manual for saving and loading.

Come scritto nell'introduzione dell'autore, si tratta di una ristampa on demand del 2024, da parte di Amazon, dell'ottimo manuale in inglese di Tim Langdell nell'edizione originale del 1982. Ristampato in occasione dell'uscita, a Novembre dello stesso anno, di "The Spectrum" la riproduzione a grandezza naturale da parte di "Retro Games Ltd" del famoso Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K, il manuale di oltre 200 pagine conduce il lettore con un linguaggio semplice e discorsivo, anche se in parte un po' datato nei termini e con qualche errore ortografico qua e la, all'uso del famoso e storico home computer di casa Sinclair. Partendo dalle basi e concentrandosi sul BASIC approfondisce anche alcuni aspetti avanzati di programmazione e soprattutto offre una molteplicità di esempi e programmi completi omettendo unicamente il linguaggio assembler dello Z80. Essendo una ristampa on demand i caratteri non sono sempre corposi e ben definiti ma restano comunque sufficientemente leggibili e comprensibili. Assolutamente consigliato per gli appassionati che vogliono riscoprire questo pezzo di storia informatica.
