Does this one radio work well in the mountains?** A: The radio is not the issue for your challenge. To get the absolute best reception buy the RGTech Monarch Indoor AM/FM Antenna, True 60 Mile Range Multidirectional Reception Radio Antenna. I don't live in the mountains. Just the opposite. I live in north central Illinois in the middle of farm country in the middle of no where. This antenna works great and is only $19. https://www.amazon.com/RGTech-Monarch-Antenna-Multidirectional-Reception/dp/B07MKYR9DX?pd_rd_w=nz1ae&pf_rd_p=ed2d9dd9-5e5e-4b68-81ad-abff01eb6452&pf_rd_r=V7X2M0JEEP6WJ8G8A7D7&pd_rd_r=c930d2e2-1a17-405e-8b22-2e20b5a6ba78&pd_rd_wg=NeSLT&pd_rd_i=B07MKYR9DX&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_32_i **Q: is this a shorwave radio?** A: This radio is NOT a short wave radio. **Q: The specs do not call out an antennae. I am happy with my purchase. Some said their Sangean was not real wood. This rose gold and walnut IS true and genuine walnut and metal. The weight of this radio is substantial. The speaker is high quality. It actually sounds better than my old Bose speakers, which i could hook up to this if i wanted, but find it unnecessary. The dial is so satisfying to turn, especially if you are into vintage and retro things. The reception upon first try is great! I did employ the radio antenna wire they included. The Sangean picked up our local public radio station just fine, which is actually located about 60 miles from where i am. I purchased this solely to listen to classical radio at the shop. Goal attained :) However, if i wanted, the Bluetooth works great, and i even plugged my ipad into the aux port so i could listen to podcasts. Sound is clear and easy to understand. I had no feeling of too much bass, as others mentioned in their reviews. Also, i have not found it to lose signal at all once tuned in. Admittedly, the public radio station needs a little finesse to tune into initially, but once i am there, it sticks. I can turn it off and on again, and the station stays tuned in. I have not found anything negative about this radio. It's simple, solid, stylish, and aesthetically pleasing in every way. This is brand new to me, so if anything changes i will update. I received nothing for this review...just sharing my experience. ## Frequently Bought Together - Sangean WR-16SE AM/FM/Bluetooth/Aux-in/USB Phone Charging 45th Anniversary Special Edition Wooden Cabinet Radio (Dark Walnut with Rose Gold) - FM Radio Antenna, Ancable Indoor FM Telescopic Antenna 75 Ohm F Type Male Plug Connector with Adapter for Table Top Radio HiFi AV Stereo Receiver Mini System - Bingfu FM Radio Dipole Antenna for Stereo Receiver Indoor Pioneer Onkyo Yamaha Marantz Bose Wave Music System Home FM Radio AV Audio Video Home Theater Receiver --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.is/products/683339847-wr-16se-am-fm-bluetooth-aux-in-usb-phone-charging](https://www.desertcart.is/products/683339847-wr-16se-am-fm-bluetooth-aux-in-usb-phone-charging) --- *Product available on Desertcart Iceland* *Store origin: IS* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
