GREAT little incubator! Immediately bought another!
This is by far the best beginner-friendly incubator for the money on Amazon. I initially purchased just one to try incubating eggs for my Ayam Cemani chickens. This is an uncommon breed, and it’s not unusual to have low hatch rates from them given that Ayam Cemani derive from landrace chickens living in the jungles of Java. They aren’t your average barnyard bird. As such, I didn’t anticipate much success; but my first hatch produced an 80% hatch rate! Temps were steady at 100.4 with humidity at around 45-50% until lockdown. At lockdown (on day 18), humidity increased to 75-80% with excellent results. The incubator performed as expected, with easy setup, clear controls + setting displays, and little to no maintenance issues thereafter. Simply change the water bottles when they run low, and add the second bottle on day 18 at lockdown. Some things I’ve noticed now after running this incubator a few times: 1) The ambient temp/humidity in the room it’s kept in can have an impact on how steady those things are inside the incubator. You’ll get best results if it’s set up in a room that doesn’t have much temp/humidity fluctuation to begin with. 2) The candler light isn’t really strong enough on its own to be super effective for anything other than a rudimentary check. You can use it to see that “Yup, things look different in there on day 17 than they did on day 7” but that’s about it. 3) This incubator will keep running in lockdown mode past day 21, which is fabulous because contrary to popular belief, some eggs may take an extra day or two past that point to finally hatch. I had one egg in my most recent clutch that pipped on day 23. Sometimes you just need to be patient, and this incubator makes that easy. 4) It’s an easy unit to clean. Make sure you do so thoroughly between each hatch! If not cleaned properly, bacteria can build up and cause new eggs to go bad before they have a chance to develop. If you’ve used any incubator for years without issue, only to suddenly notice a decrease in success rate, it’s probably in part because of bacterial buildup inside the unit. The only way this machine could possibly be any better is if there were an option for turning off the alarm. I know many folks prefer a dry hatch method, which involves lower humidity for the first 17 days of development. This incubator will sound an alarm if the humidity level (or temp) drops too low - a blessing and a curse, depending on what your hatching situation happens to be. The option to turn the alarm off (or simply allowing a wider range of humidity settings in the first place!) would make this incubator beyond perfect. I was so impressed with how easily it allowed me to improve my hatch rates that I immediately bought another one, so that my hens are no longer on nest duty themselves. It’s been a fabulous experience to hatch eggs in my own home with zero guess work involved!

Did not work. UPDATE** DO NOT BUY
1/5 for now, will see how Amazon/manufacturer handles this. I read other reviews and knew there was a chance this was crap but figured $90 should get something decent. Setup was pretty easy, temp and humidity is off like everyone else says, recommend getting a third party hygrometer in there and using a medical grade thermometer to double check temperature. Days 1-17 had no problems that I could see, I have dark eggs so the candler didn’t work but that’s fine, candled with a flashlight and saw proper growth. On day 18 the incubator malfunctioned, as seen in the video the display just blinks and outputs no temp etc. leaving my eggs probably to die. Luckily I have a hen I moved them under so fingers crossed as I checked the incubator 3 times a day (which this product should alleviate this hassle but I read I couldn’t trust it) so it couldn’t have been more than a few hours that it was off. Regardless unacceptable at this price, will update review once I receive feedback from Amazon/manufacturer. UPDATE** 0/5 stars, manufacturer gladly sent me a replacement and I sent back the old defective one. The new one arrived and looked slightly different in a nicer way, which was nice. Except 12 days in it has the EXACT same problem as last time, being that it is completely broken unusable and leaving my 14 eggs to die, ALL of which had good growth! To be clear, this incubator is in a temperature and humidity regulated indoor room inside my house. The power is steady, no issues with outlets, power outages, etc. The product failed the EXACT same way as the last one where all power to the machine is lost and the display just blinks on and off. This product has not only wasted additional money but has somehow managed to also waste a bunch more of my time and severely bum me out as I was really trying to grow my flock out and now im left with another set of eggs killed by a faulty incubator. DO. NOT. BUY.

Humidity is a problem
I purchased this incubator because it had pretty good reviews. However it's near impossible to get the humidity to stay up. And it's not the room I have it in or the setup or anything on my end. I also purchased another incubator model which is very similar and set up just like this one, however the one other one is a 12 egg incubator. The other incubator I only have one of the bottles in the reservoir and it's up to 60% humidity without being covered or anything and with some of the ventilation open on top. However this 18 egg incubator with one bottle would only stay at 45% humidity when I added the second bottle I got it up to 50% humidity, so the whole Reservoir full of water still couldn't bring up the humidity, I had to add three sponges soaked in hot water, which I have to keep taking out and re-soaking when they dry out, but I had them in there plus I wrapped a towel around the incubator and was able to get the humidity up to 65% almost 70% at a time but it drops pretty quick, as soon as I remove the towel it instantly drops down almost 10%, as soon as I open it to get the sponges out it drops down another 10%. So if you're going to buy this I don't know if it's cuz it's such a large incubator, but my 12 egg incubator Works a lot better than this model, but it is a different brand as well. If you plan on buying this plan on having to do some alterations, a lot more work than I expected to keep the humidity up, my other incubators almost Auto without my intervention, you'll definitely have to babysit this one. As far as the heater, it does do well keeping the temperature at 100.4 temperature for the eggs which is perfect, I've had no issues with it. It does okay rotating the eggs as well, it's a little clunky compared with my other incubator but it still gets the job done and doesn't harm the eggs or anything. It also has a timer, so it auto shuts down turning the eggs on lockdown day. I'm just disappointed that the humidity is such a problem in this model.

Cheep cheep
First time hatching chicken eggs. This thing worked great. The only drawback was the humidity didn't work as directed. I had to use both bottles from the start up to keep it at 47%. On the 18th day where you need to bump the humidity up to about 70% I had to use a spray mister every so often to keep it high enough. Just mist 3 or 4 times a day to bump it. 17 eggs. 12 survived. 3 died trying to hatch. 2 not viable. I recommend this to anyone hatching their own. I used to let my chickens do it themselves but my brooding hens were killed by someones loose dog that dug under the fence.

tragic chick deaths
Don't buy this incubator. It beeps incessantly for no reason at all and I knew mine was defective from the beginning. It will start beeping for no reason at all even when the bottle(s) are full of water because it is cheap. The first time we used it, we hatched only 1 chick and it was blind and had a crossbite beak. It eventually died so we listened to weeks of beeping for that to be our end result. The second time we used it, we had no eggs hatch again except one and it had deformed legs and screamed for days before finally dying as well. I researched this issue and found out legs are related to temperature malfunction and we did notice that this stupid incubator did get cold for at least 2 days. At least 2 days!!! It is trash. The third time we used it, we hatched 6 chicks out of 9 eggs after constantly monitoring it daily and it still malfunctioned and needed to be reset. Two of the chicks barely look like they could survive but they are still here looking trashy and tragic. This contraption is nothing but an exercise in chick abuse and it's truly a sick invention with how annoying it is and how defective it is. We hate it and we are finally trashing it so thanks for stealing my money you cheap trash company selling garbage! Horrible horrible horrible product! After we washed it the second time, the cheap plastic expanded and the base and lid do not fit properly anymore. It's just garbage.

A Good Incubator for a Beginner
This is a great incubator for a first timer. Easy to setup, use, and clean. I struggle with the humidity reaching levels above 44%. No issues with holding the appropriate temperature. I’ve added warm water directly to the bottom of the tray which helped to increased the humidity - be careful because it will also increase the temperature. Light for candling wasn’t strong enough for our darker eggs - yet, it worked well for the lighter and white eggs. Holds up to 18 eggs with rotation timing between every 60, 120, or 180 minutes. Chicks struggle to find balance with the grated base so I’ve added a dish towel for a more comfortable surface. Overall, I’m happy with our purchase.

Very easy!
I recently purchased this 18-egg incubator, and I couldn't be happier with the results! As someone relatively new to incubating, the automatic features were a huge draw, and they truly deliver. The automatic egg turning. No more worrying about remembering to manually turn eggs multiple times a day! The humidity control is another standout feature. It's so important for successful hatches, and this incubator makes it incredibly easy to maintain. The clear display shows the current humidity level, and it's simple to add water when needed without disturbing the eggs. This level of control takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process. Setting up the incubator was straightforward, and the instructions were clear. The LED display is bright and easy to read, showing both temperature and humidity at a glance. The 18-egg capacity is perfect for my needs, allowing for a decent-sized batch without being too large or cumbersome. Cleaning is also relatively easy, which is a big plus after a hatch. The overall build feels solid and durable. If you're looking for an incubator that takes the stress out of hatching, whether you're a beginner or have some experience, I highly recommend this model. It's reliable, user-friendly, and delivers excellent results. You'll be watching those chicks hatch in no time!

Humidity/Ambient Temperature of Room Matters!
The temperature in the room you keep this incubator is important! I did not know that before I tried to start some eggs and ran into an issue with keeping the humidity level at the recommended 55%. It's February in Northern California, and our house stays at about 65 degrees. I was unable to keep the humidity level at the recommended 55%, and I don't think it was the fault of the product. I believe that it was because the ambient temperature was just too low this time of year. Once the incubator reached under 44%, the alarm beeped and let me know the humidity was too low. I plan on trying again when it warms up. As for the actual product, it was super simple to assemble. The instructions were easy to follow. Once I figured out how to line up the arrows on the top, I was able to screw the top on relatively easily. The water bottles that help to aid with humidity were easy to fill. Remember to get some distilled water beforehand. The egg turner worked perfectly and the temperature stayed 100.4 degrees F. Overall, I am very happy with this product and plan to hatch some eggs when the days warm up to 75 or 80 degrees. I plan to try this again in early summer and will update my review.
