Great product from Hultafors
Bough this as I plan to insulate a new garden shed. I have bought Hultafors craft and utility knives in the past and despite their very modest pricing I have found them to be some of the best utility knives I own (honestly - check the range out). Have tried this on some spare mineral wool and it cuts beautifully. What I also like about the blade is that it is marked in one cm intervals up to 30 cm. Blade comes with a neat plastic blade guard which can also be used for hanging the knife up when finished.

Right tool for cutting insulation
Important not to blunt the blade by cutting with something under insulation to protect blade from the ground like a length of gutter when cutting to length, otherwise cut to width whilst roll is still wrapped. This blade is long enough to reach centre of the roll and stayed sharp after cutting 23 1200mm rolls into 400mm widths. I bought a shorter cheaper knife and a multi blade Stanley knife as backup but they weren’t needed.

Much better than a wood saw!
Really handy knife for cutting rigid board type insulation such as Celotex and Kingspan etc. Doesn't spit out loads of fine dust like when using a wood saw and is plenty long enough, with a decent handle to grip hold of. The blade is quite flexible, which is extremely handy for when you need to trim off excess expanding foam which has set but need to cut it off neatly and flush to an adjacent surface. Also great for cutting wool type materials, as another reviewer said but make sure you have something like that laid on a piece of soft timber during the process, so you can safely apply downward pressure and not end up just slicing yourself open, which would be very easy.

Great knife
Excels at the job, very sharp and the printed measurements down the blade are very handy. Larger than I thought (think bread knife), but not a problem. Only downside is, that it has no proper sheath, It comes with a plastic cover to protect the blade, but a sheath you could attach to your work belt would have been better. A good blade, fit for purpose.

excellent product
excellent investment for cutting PIR board- struggled with 120mm boards, 90mm boards easier, yet to try on 60mm boards. had i not bought this would have struggled "shaving the board edges to get a tight fit" still used a saw to cut the board quickly using this knife minimal dust, but i still wore a P3 mask only minor downside is that the knife is flexible so have to be careful to keep perpendicular to get a straight cut

really good knife
I used this at the weekend to cut through some Celotex. Works well. There's no avoiding the dust if you have a serated edge, but it was really useful for doing the final trimming cuts and I do think it would create less dust than a saw.

Brilliant piece of kit
The best money iv ever spent i wish i had know about this product years ago after the toil and trouble iv had with cutting rock wool.......goes through insulation batts like a hot knife thru butter thus would have got 10 stars if you could give that many 👌

Used for Celotex - Better than serrated Bread knife
Definitely the way to go. Straight clean cuts, very low amount of dust. Much easier to use than a bread knife (easier to direct). Less dust than even with a high TPI saw, but a saw is a bit easier to direct.

Very good tool and reasonabley priced. At first I though the thing was huge and unnecessarily wide. But through extended use I learned to appreciate its dimensions. The length and width facilitate my making straighter cuts. The width and length also allowed my to cut through multiple layers of insulation. This technique ultimately saved me considerable time.. I was also concerned that it would not hold an edge. I have used it very extensively for months on rock wool type fire retardant and sound attenuating insulation. It is still sharp enough that I can continue with no problem. I would buy it again and I would recommend it to anyone for the same purpose. As a side note, I also bought a serrated bread knife as many on-line blogs recommend. My experience is that the serrated bread knife will certainly do the job, but not with the ease and accuracy that this tool will. I ended up not using the bread knife after a day with this tool. Bottom line ... highly recommended.
