This product goes with the shower head I bought (https://amzn.to/49jmm9f - paid link) to help my “crusty hair” as my son described it. My hair dresser was the one that asked me if I was on well water and told me to purchase a filter. I was new to Vermont and she was also in a more remote area, so she recognized my hair texture issues right away. This is a great product but YOU DON’T need to replace this entire thing. I didn’t read properly and I tossed my black one (that matched she shower head) thinking this was the replacement filter. SUPER easy to swap this entire shower head out though and there are no leak issues. It also looks nice and keeps the shiny chrome look well. The water pressure also remained great.

I've had this installed now for around 4 months and it's hard to tell if it actually filters effectively. It definitely softens water. Usually by this point I would have to remove calcified deposits from the shower head but this has effectively removed them. I would imagine that it's effective up to the traditional filtering range for most of these multi media filters that use layered media. I'm happy enough with not having to deal with cleaning my shower heads anymore so I think this was a decent buy. I have notices some minimal improvements in my dandruff maybe this helped, it's hard to tell with these things unless I had water analysis.

I have purchased this filter twice in under a year and both times the filter housing has cracked and created a leak at the pipe coming from the wall. It looks good and seems to work well but the plastic housing does not last.

So we live in the San Pedro area and the water quality is not great. We’ve had multiple water quality alerts regarding the beach so I can only imagine the water we use in our home. So I use water filter filters all the time I know exactly when to change it because of my hair starts to feel oily again. I purchased this one because I’ve used this before. It’s easy to install. A size isn’t as big as it looks in the pictures and it works well. So ideally, I have to change ours about every three months. I know it’s recommended you can change it probably every six months but because of the quality of water in this area, they don’t really last up to six months for us so depending on where you’re at, just keep that in mind. You instantly feel a difference when you put a shower filter in your hair will not feel oily and not feel like it’s dirty or heavy. It will fill light and airy and it’s the best thing ever. I also purchased this because our son when we first started giving him baths when he was born his skin is very sensitive and he was getting a little red spot on his skin so I changed out filter and instantly his red spots and Russians were gone.

What a difference this has made! We have hard water, and my hair is smoother and shinier. Even my skin is shinier, and feels so clean after showering! As for ease of installation, it was very easy, although it does leak a bit around the connection. It came with seal tape, so I need to try using that again. I’ve been lazy about it. We’re on a well, so our water pressure is just okay. This has not affected it in the least, and I still have a very satisfying shower. I’m also thrilled that it comes in oil-rubbed bronze, to match our bathroom fixtures. Overall I’m extremely pleased! Wish I would have purchased this much sooner.
