F&G Supplies 50 Litre sack of Melcourt Sylvagrow Farmyard RHS endorsed peat free soil improver - ideal for improving soil structure, fertility, suppressing weeds and as a mulch

Excellent soil conditioner, RHS approved. Doesn’t smell and has a reliable fine texture with no nasty bits. I use this as a November mulch on my flower beds to retain moisture and suppress weeds. I also use it as part of a potting mix for new plants: Melcourt Sylvagrow compost, a handful of this Farmyard, a sprinkling of plant food and added Perlite for drainage. Melcourt products are superior to the usual garden centre / DIY shops multipurpose compost and I wouldn’t use anything else now. I’ve used Melcourt compost and this Farmyard to improve heavy clay soil which has greatly improved the texture of the soil. I now have a fabulous cottage garden and workable soil.

Unfortunately there was more tree bark and bits of wood than there was animal manure. Quite disappointed!

I have purchased this item several times because it appears to be very good quality and the garden plants seem to do well on it. I either use it on its own like for roses and clematis or I tend to mix it with multi-purpose compost to give extra strength to the compost. As far as I can tell, it has no bad odour also which is positive.

Great as a top dressing for roses and for generally improving soil.

Good value nice quality finally composted very good for spreading over garden or digging in to add organic fibre to soil and improve soil. Big size and heavy but manoeuvreable especially with help or a wheelbarrow, perfectly possible without, though.
