Good quality item, looks great, works well ..... with patience
After a rather frustrating 'first attempt' when i received a damaged item (No outer packaging, box bashed, items missing, please see feedback): I subsequently bought another of the same unit, arrived as expected this time, looks great (good quality finish, discrete size) and being square it is easy to store). Eggs cook great, it just takes a little time & patience to get the 'eggs V's water volume' just right for your desired degree of hardboiledness (its a real word, promise !) I've also sourced a plastic tray that will fit on top of the egg holder to serve as a poaching / omelette tray - you may wish to try the same ?

Don't Get Too Egg-cited
Well, I saw this, and pondered. Do I really need it. Probably not, but, I am one for giving things a try so bought this. It arrived, well packaged and promptly. Easy to open and easy to set up to use. I know that the manufacturer wanted to emphasise safety, but it was really annoying that the safety measure were in such clear print, and the actual instructions were not. This was a big mistake. They were not, in my view, that clear either, but enough that I could work out how to use the machine and, importantly boil some eggs. As another reviewer has pointed out, it seems they have marked the measuring jug wrongly. On each of the three sets of markings, I think, 6 should be at the top. And, to be honest, that is another thing. The markings are not that clear on the jug. I am not sure how I would do it differently but,, if, like me, you have eyesight problems, you will struggle. My first attempt at boiling one hard egg was not exactly brilliant. Partly because of the markings on the jug in my view, being wrong. It took the best part of 20 minutes to boil that egg. No quicker than in a pan on the gas hob. Having seen that other review, I tried a different tack for my second attempt. Perfect hard boiled egg in 10 minutes. Probably not much quicker than with a pan, but without the danger of boiling water. It is not a bad product. It will have its uses and I am happy. Just think the instruction need to be looked at, and that measuring jug.

Works well
I bought this to replace an egg boiler I’d bought in Germany 15 years ago which had finally given up the ghost. I’m very pleased with it so far. It came with a UK three pin plug thankfully so I can get rid of my two pin adapter sticking out the plug socket. It cooks the eggs quickly and I’ve found it accurate at cooking them to the required softness or hardness. So far I’ve tried it with soft, medium and hard and with 2, 3, 4, and 5 eggs they all seemed to come out exactly as they should. It hasn’t boiled over ever (touch wood), which I’m pleased about as my old one used to do that sometimes and was a constant worry when I’d find it sitting in a pool of water whilst plugged into the mains. The filling with water is quite simple too, you just fill it to the lines indicated on the side of the plastic container for soft, medium or hard and the number of eggs you’re cooking. You need to make sure to click the on/off button the left and it buzzes when they are done. It tells you this in the instruction book. It says if you click to the right this is only a ‘keep warm’ function, only for pre-cooked hard boiled eggs and it therefore doesn’t have a buzzer. Maybe this is what the people are doing who say it doesn’t have a buzzer. The loudness of the buzzer is fine. It’s pretty loud. If it buzzes in my kitchen it’s loud enough that I can hear it fine when I’m in another room, with the TV on or there are people talking. Don’t need more than that. The stainless steel water tray is easy to wipe clean after use. I’m in a soft water area, I don’t know if that makes a difference.

horrible squealing noise when finished
Makes a horrendous squealing noise when it's finished/dry. I think it's malfunctioning as the noise is worse than a smoke alarm. I will return it. However, it also doesn't have a auto turn off, which is odd as it would be very simple and inexpensive to implement.

Cooks eggs the way you want them easily
Brilliant little machine. Eggs cooked to perfection the way you like them. Tried others machines that were thrown away. This is a keeper.

It cooks eggs but has a very annoying buzzer when done
With this you get a measurement cup for quantities of water that has incorrectly labelling, where "1 egg" is where "3 eggs" should be and vice-versa. A small issue to have but it gave a bad first impression of it although it was easy to get around. The cup has a small spike of piercing the egg at the bottom under a plastic cover. The amounts of water used are very small so adjustment is tricky and may take some practice. I tested 1 and 2 eggs in it and quickly got to the point where I knew how much water I needed for the right egg texture. Neither was exactly where their marks were but slightly lower and higher respectively although the initial values were quite close. The machine has one button for on/off and uses a heated plate at the bottom that draws 340W at start before dropping to 210W during the steaming process. For two eggs and the "medium" amount of water (40ml) it took 11 minutes and 38Wh of electricity to cook. Completion is signalled with a high-ish pitched buzzer that I measured at 54dB (slightly quieter than normal conversation) 1m away. Turning off the unit with the switch stops it. The clear plastic gets hot, due to steam condensing on it, but the body of the unit is warm, certainly no risk of injuring yourself on the outside when you press the button. The plastic parts are easy to clean but the heating element is going to get buildup on it, if not from the egg then the mineral deposits left by boiling off the water. Cleaning this can be done using a soft cloth and something like vinegar occasionally. The plastic parts shouldn't get much dirt and I clean them in the sink with some detergent and hot water, although they are listed as dishwasher safe. I gave it three stars because it's more hassle than using a pan of water and limited to three eggs for those rare occasions I may want more. For 1-2 people though, it's probably fine and removes the guesswork from getting your perfect eggs. You also can't forget about it, like the hob, because there's a buzzer and the heating stops at the end just in case you're a minute or two late to turning if off.
