It's a great gift for girls. The books are amazing detective stories and my daughter has read them again and again without ever getting bord of them. They are set in the victorian era. These books are great for people aged 7 to 11.

My seven-year-old daughter received this set of books as a gift, and at first I was reluctant to read them with her, as we had one Holly Webb book already (The Firefighter's Kitten) and it was irritatingly long-winded and maudlin. My daughter (then 5 y.o.) hadn't liked it either; the main character was one-dimensional and we predicted exactly how it would end within the first few pages. So imagine my surprise when the Maisie Hitchins books turned out to be clever, fast-paced and age appropriate, with just the right amount of historical detail and huge variety of plot and characters. It felt like I was reading an entirely different author! The stories were enjoyable for both of us and we found ourselves reading on together during the day, not just at bedtime. I've already recommended them to my daughter's school friends' parents and I really hope that the author will write another series like this in the future. Children deserve exciting, interesting stories too, and this set certainly delivered.

Bought for my daughters 7th birthday - she is an avid reader, she loves reading her way through box sets of books and this set did not disappoint. She thoroughly enjoyed all of these stories, and has read them all at least twice! A great female character. Her 9year old sister has also read them all and enjoyed them.

It initially came in slightly damaged and the plastic wrap was ripped. But I processed a return and was sent another set in perfect condition.
