Logitech G27 Racing Wheel (PC)

Am a keen Sim-Racer driving on all forms of games from F1 2012, Gran Turismo 5 and GTR2 along with rFactor, decided to make the move up from a Driving Force GT as needed the G27 for a event in the future where me and other team members use the same wheel, so the G27 was picked. First impressions was that it looked fantastic, with the Big Paddle Shift Gear Box levers which I find brilliant, the gear shifter which add's a brilliant experience, especially with Gran Turismo 5. It will take a little while to get used to it if your a previous steering wheel user on either Console or PC, as Pedals require different pressure etc. compared to lets say the DFGT. However once you get used to it you'l never turn back, feels brilliant racing on games with it. I really liked the pedals compared to the DFGT, with the Pedals being Metal rather than plastic. The Leather Steering wheel is a lot nicer than the plastic one of the DFGT aswell. To be honest it's a brilliant wheel, bought it and basically works and looked perfect even though it was used, would highly recommend seller and product on the experience I have had with both.

Quite a nice feel in the hand from the leather, A nice premium look too (coming from a driving force GT). The pedals feel great too, Having driven real cars I would say that it's not 100% realistic, the force feedback is nice but not as strong as the driving force GT and the clutch pedal is too slack. This definitely enhanced my GT5 driving experience though (A wheel stand is a MUST). Overall a premium product worthy of an 8/10, I'm yet to experience any wheel better.

After hearing about the hype behind this wheel, and friends using it, I decided to buy it. For £220 I expected near to perfection which I did not get. By far its not worth over £200.. Then theres the calibiration issue. The wheel edges to the left while using GT5, or any game on any console for that mattter until it goes full 900 degress left, while in game it detects it as being straight. One force feedback motor was not working. Replacement instructions also took a while, and the gentlemen I spoke to from Logitech mentioned he has heard this complaint a few times. Sent it back, and now have to wait another 2 weeks for a replacement. All in all. Not good.

Not compatible with most titles, and the ones it is compatible with are a few years old, so you might as well get the G25. If I could afford the £30 to send it back, I would. It's cost me more than that already, having bought a couple of titles to use it with, only to find I needed to get the previous title in the series, like Dirt 3 to Dirt 2, which it claims it is compatible with, but I haven't managed to get working. The pedals are uncomfortable and unrealistic, not a pleasant place to rest your feet for more than a couple of minutes. Wheel looks nice, but to be honest I can't get it to work. This may be my fault, but I've tried a good few options and had no success. The support has been good, but honestly all these problems would be solved by getting the G25, which is a quality bit of kit, and less than half the price.

I would recommend this product to anyone starting to get into simulation racing. It's not a top end product, the wheel motors could be stronger, but it is very, very good! The pedals give very good resistance, the H-shifter though a bit finnicky to start with, is solid once you get used to it and the 900 degrees rotation wheel gives excellent feedback. Additionally, the wheel and shifter easily fix solidly to your desk or table, and the pedals have a gripper that stop them moving on the carpet, meaning I have had no problems whatsoever with any of them shifting while playing. I know there will be wheels on the market with stronger force feedback. However, for the price, this is very hard to beat and has improved my racing experience immensely.

Apart from the price tag this is a great product adds a huge depth of realism to any racing game. Force feedback is awesome especially in rally games. Only problems is the wire coming out of the pedals is at the back so if the pedals are pressed against the wall the wire is bent awfully and looks like it could brake(going to have to buy a stand), cant place anything behind the pedals as it will slide on top of the pedals the there is a curve at the back of the pedals.

Seems that a lot of people have had the same problem I have with the calibration issue. Wheel calibration starts edging away from centre almost as soon as I stay playing. Force feedback was fabulous but if I had it turned up it would just make the calibration issues happen quicker, Sending the wheel back and may purchase another one but £230 for a wheel that didn't work properly straight out of the box has left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth

One of the clamps broke and there is no replacement parts.
