The canvas case is great, plenty of room for pens, pencils, markers, a range card, protractor. The only "buyer beware" aspect is the map pouch; anything large, like a field map you might have used in the military, will be much too large to fit inside without weirdly folding your map. It's not the end of the world, but it does force you to create creases and folds that wouldn't otherwise be there. Seems durable, as the material is quite thick and the stitching is solid. I do recommend.

Good material and compartments. Fits in your backpack quite well, thought maybe if they had a slightly bigger version to add small notebooks ion some side pockets, can fit at least a small notepad.

Great value for what you get. I use this for Search and Rescue (SAR) to keep a printed topo map as a navigation backup and for marking key grid coordinates. While we mostly rely on CalTopo, having a waterproof setup to hold maps, a compass, protractor, and markers makes this case a solid choice. Packed up, it’s about the size of a Kindle and slides right into my pack. I also use it when planning off-road camping and overlanding trips where cell service is non-existent. Having physical maps and written plans as a backup—or even primary reference—is crucial. The case itself is well-constructed with sturdy stitching and plenty of space for essential tools. I’ve tried other map holders in the past that I either returned immediately or threw out after they fell apart, but this one is solid. I’ll update this after a few more trips, but right now I’m really happy with it.

Good for holding stuff, but not for "use" in combat. Velcro and this kind of fabric are noisy. Keep it in a secure pouch that doesn't make that scraping sound every time something touches it. The plastic window is too cheap to fold too. It has a persistent crease, and heating to remove it makes it difficult to fold again. Higher grade materials would help, but that's not what this is. It's a convenient pouch for landnav equipment, and placing some reference cards in the plastic works, but I'd never have it out if there's any chance of an enemy being nearby.

The only thing that I dont like about this pouch is that if you already have a laminated map 18 x 22 which is used for land nav it takes a bit of folding to get it to fit. With it being laminated, after folding is done the map is too thick to fit properly in pouch. Also I think this case is mainly for an unlaminated map. Over time I see the map as well as the case start to becoming unservicable. So make sure you only have unlaminated maps in the pouch. The map pouch is detachable which is a good thing amd the plastic is able to be written on to mark check points along your route. The velcro that holds the map pouch to the rest of the case really needs to be a bit stronger and more robust to last the life of the case. Over all it is a good case for the price. The true test is when I take it out to perform some serious land nav amd training.
