Overkill? - More like future proofing!
This claimed "80Gbps" USB-C Thunderbolt 4 adapter is the first adapter I’ve encountered that can potentially handle a 16K display. It comes packaged with a small leaflet, but no detailed instructions specifically about the cable. This adapter supports DisplayPort 2.1, which theoretically allows resolutions up to 16K if you have the necessary equipment and display. For those without a 16K setup, it can still manage 8K at 240Hz or 4K at 960Hz, provided your monitor or TV supports these specs. DisplayPort 2.1 also includes DP Alt Mode and USB 4 compatibility, maximizing Thunderbolt 4’s capabilities. The typical data rate is 40Gbps, but with Thunderbolt 4’s eight-lane design, it reaches a combined throughput of 80Gbps, pushing the current limits of speed. It’s also backwards-compatible, so if your device only supports lower standards, it can drop to 20Gbps as needed. Whilst this seems like a waste, you are only future proofing. DP 2.1 is designed for both high resolutions and dependable output, which is especially valuable for video editing and gaming at ultra-high resolutions. The cable is compact for its capabilities and works well with Mac, PC, or even VR setups if you need high data transfer with stable display output. I can’t test it at 16K myself to confirm its theoretical resolution, but it has performed flawlessly with 2x 4K displays and 1x 1440p display so far. Pros: Supports up to 16K resolution, DP 2.1 and Thunderbolt 4, 80Gbps, compact design. Cons: Requires a compatible display and equipment to fully utilize, no additional drivers needed. Cons: Just literally the price to be honest.

Nice quality and useful adapter
I could only test this with a laptop and portable devices going into an HD monitor, so I cannot test the higher theoretical specs of this adapter, but what I could connect worked fine without issue. Nice quality adapter, no issues so far.

High spec adapter, but way more than most people need.
As you would expect from Cable Matters the build quality on this adapter is pretty good and the specs are way ahead of what most people currently need. So, if you are looking at this, then you are most probably thinking about future proofing your set-up. I have TB4 on both my desktop and laptop, but I cannot get close to those figures due to my current screen technology. However, it does offer some great flexibility in me being able to connect either my laptop, Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra or S24 Ultra to either of 4K or 2K monitors. Simply by plugging this into one of the spare DP 8K cables I have plugged into each. It does also mean that as and when I upgrade my monitors, I’m not going to have to worry about changing this adapter. I will say though, that the spec on this adapter is way more than most people are ever going to need. That is unless me have some major advancement in technology. I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks for reading.

Works well
Item title: Cable Matters 80Gbps USB C to DisplayPort 2.1 Adapter, 16K@60hz, 8K@240hz, 4K@960Hz and HDR Support - Thunderbolt 5/4, USB4 Compatible with VR Headset, MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, XPS, Surface Pro Delivered price with Prime: £27.99 How is it packaged?: Retail Box A brand you can trust, I've bought many CM items over the years for the office. Very good quality, lovely presentation with retail box. High price but in this instance a) you know where you stand with quality, b) reliable and a proper brand c) You know the standards will always meet manufacturer guidlines and the specs will not be 'made up'. Here I tested it with my M4 Mac Mini and it works well. I havent got any display equipmentto go to 16k though so can't comment on that at present.

Bra kontakt så länge kontakten inte sträcks
Funkar fint. DP-kontakten snäpper fast och sitter bra. Själva USB-C-kontakten kan dock glappa om kontakten sträcks, så var försiktig.

Works for DUHD high refresh.
Drives a DUHD (7680x2160) monitor easily. Seems to support up to 240Hz at DUHD.

Works for HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality headset
Bought it to use my HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality (VR) headset with my ASUS TUF GAMING F16 laptop, which did not have a display port (DP) for which to connect my headset. Tried two other, more affordable brains and neither worked. Finally paid more and it works great. The value is worth it to have it work right out of the box.

Works Very Well
This product worked without any problems for 4K @ 120Hz. The adapter was used as follows: I have a Dell 16 Premium and Dell G3223Q monitor which supports 120Hz @ 4K. Based on the specs of the Dell Laptop is supports DP2.1 as output of the Thunderbolt 4. I used the CableMatters USB-C (TB4) to DP2.1 and connected it to the monitor and I was able to get 4K @ 120Hz. Actual there was the option of 143.3 Hz as well. I have not used it extensively so that part is still to be seen.
