Well worth it but some minor improvements can make it better.
I was sceptical. £169 for a smart wireless alarm? The beauty of Amazon is if doesn’t meet your expectations simply return it for a no arguments refund. On this occasion no need for that great return policy. When considering my purchase I considered ease of use. No good if people don’t set it because it’s too complicated. Subscription free. Monitor service can work out expensive and then there’s sometimes added extras to those charges. Expandable. Can I add more to it? Smart integration. Will it work with Alex or Google? Cameras? Can I add cameras? Set up was a breeze once linked to my 2.4Ghz network. I’ve read reports about people saying it’s not working. I’ve had issues with backwards compatibility before so luckily I have a router that has 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz capability. There’s a lot of new routers that don’t have 2.4Ghz so be aware! Go into your router wireless settings and see if 2.4Ghz is enabled. Set up of the sensors was a breeze too. I used the clear touch screen to set everything up. There’s a stack of informative instructions to get up and running. When an alarm is triggered a notification is sent via the smart life app so as long as you have mobile data your sorted. The mobile call works if you add a SIM card and there’s offers for a mobile package but it would have been nice to have a pre loaded sim in the kit with an introductory bundle. I’m sure you can get pre paid sim deals too but the sim package OSI offer weren’t that expensive at first glance. This kit comes with motion sensors. I don’t get motion sensors unless they are intended as a backup for perimeter sensors. With pets that like roam freely around the home the motion sensors weren’t installed. Would be good if two kit options were offered. One as it is and the other with no motion sensors just more window and door sensors for the same price. The plug in strobe light again not used. The panel sounder is very loud. The strobe sounder might be better designed as an external sounder? The control panel is inconspicuous when installed. I installed ours by the front door and both my wife and daughter didn’t even know it was there until I told them. Lovely slim panel not like the alarm control boxes of old. I wall mounted it and dropped the cable through the cavity behind and out to the power socket below. Would be nice to have a slightly longer USB to USB C power lead for more flexibility. I like it. Good quality, clear audio and very loud but above easy, really easy to set up. A tip:- wipe the contact mount surface with an alcohol wipe such as isopropanol cleaner to get the best adhesion for the sticky pads. I have this in my tool kit and boy do those pads stick firm. I’m now trying to get the system to do more. The smart life app has the promise to do more. I’m looking at skills such as when I pull up on the drive automatically disarm or when I leave home automatically arm or maybe have my blink cameras integrate with the system for external triggers. There’s been a spate of car thefts lately which spurred me into buying an alarm system as some homes have been broken into to get the keys so that external monitor would be good.

Definitely the Best Self-Monitored Alarm System Out There!
After trying several so-called smart alarms, most turned out to be cheap, slow, and backed by terrible customer service. But the OSI Smart Alarm System Gen 2 is a different story—it actually works. Setup was smooth once I connected to 2.4GHz WiFi, and the Smart Life app sends alerts instantly. No frustrating subscriptions or hidden fees—just reliable security that I control from my phone, remote, or the touchscreen panel. Follow the directions!!! If you watch the install video, it’s super easy. I wouldn't recommend setting it up on your own without watching—following the YouTube setup guide makes it fast and effortless. The alarm is loud, the hardware feels solid, and adding extra sensors or cameras is easy. The only complaint I have? I wish I bought this a long time ago!

Hidden fees to use some features
Really did like this alarm system, Simple panel but that's all you need. Touch is so much better than the panel it was replacing and was refreshing to touch the screen and your touch been registered. Had an initial issue where I could not select the system code to change the code from default, support top class and replied within hours rather than days. After several factory restore it was the same but I eventually worked out you need to select a user then go back and you can now select the system code to change. Had everything setup and ready to be put into place, sensors ready, door contacts ready, new sim card was ordered and on its way. Decided to do a test with my 2nd phone sim card before fixing in place and putting senors and door contacts in place. Thought I had everything ready and did an alarm set off test, it worked fine but then I see notifications that the sim card aspect is an extra subscription service that you need to sign up for, sms and calls. I did receive a text message on my main phone but looking in the app I was asked to sign up for sms, I did also receive a call but it was declined on my main phone for some reason or another. I hate companies who hide additional charges for features, Amazon and others do it with door cameras. Expensive service, charges £26 for 30 days, my old system allowed sms and calls for no extra cost. Little bit of false advertising in the product description: Reason I have given 1 star No Monthly Fees! There are absolutely no monthly fees, installation costs, or contracts required. Now fully factory reset and been returned for a refund. If you don't plan on using a sim card, the system looks great, nice and easy to add sensors and it even registered a spare PIR Sensor I had from my other system. The panel siren is nice and loud, I didn't even get to try the plug in siren as it wasn't even installed properly and that was the last sensor I had to add once I had it installed. Extremely disappointed with the false advertising and even worst the very expensive service charges.

Great system when paired to Smart Life App
Easy to install and with the adoption of the Smart Life app it can send notifications and indicate system status. Can be very easily expanded with additional sensors such as vibration sensors etc. I would advise anyone who is looking for a feature rich, self monitoring alarm system to look at this one first. Great user videos online to aid in set-up of the system if needed.

Different siren supplied that did not work properly.
I really liked the system but had to return it as the round siren that came with the unit was not the one shown on the box - it was a totally different version with a different way of pairing to the main console. I could not get it to register/pair or show on the control panel and list of devices. It just kept going off randomly after being disarmed and despite amazing customer support from Raymond at OSI, the issue could not be resolved. I had no choice but to return it. Very disappointed as i thought the system was excellent and very easy to install and set up.

This is a low cost Home alarm system. Which i though would be a waste of money. But it turned out to be a great system. Easy to configure, well built, brings a reasonable amount contact and motion sensors. My home is relatively large made of cement contruction. The 433mhz alarm system sensors performed very well. Sensor responeded immediately. I did order the 433mhz extender to assure my self sensors are getting the best signal. Cement and rebar is a tought cookie to Crack. But it's working well, touch panel is very high end for this price range. Can't complain for now let's see how it holds up through time.

I just set up this OSI Alarm System Gen 2 (4G) in my home, and I’m pretty impressed for what it is. If you’re like me and wanted something simple to install yourself without paying big monitoring fees forever, this is a solid choice. Setup & daily use Out of the box it feels well put together, and I liked that it has a 7" touchscreen control panel with a clear, easy-to-use interface — it’s way nicer than fiddling with tiny buttons. The setup wizard walks you right through connecting the sensors and getting it all ready, so I had it up and running in under an hour. You can control everything from the Smart Life app on your phone — arm, disarm, and see alerts if something trips. It also works with my Google Assistant, which is nice if you want voice control. You do need to turn on the 2.4G system in your WIFI. I didn't try 5G, just followed there recommendation. The system supports like 160 devices so if you decide to expand later it would be easy. You can add a SIM card (separate from the system) to get SMS alerts or even go with professional 24/7 monitoring if you want that extra peace of mind, but it’s totally optional or just use self-monitoring and get alerts on my phone whenever something triggers which is easier on the budget If you want a DIY alarm system that’s easy to install, doesn’t trap you in a contract, and gives you useful alerts on your phone, this OSI Gen 2 system is a great bang for your buck. It’s not super high-end pro gear, but for everyday home security it’s been easy and reliable.

Great alarm set. Alarm is VERY loud. Easy to setup. Door sensors are cool. The only thing I wish is that the door sensors would audible say which door is open once you rename it in the app. Currently it just chime when opening (support only mentioned that I just chimes). Really good system for the money. Wanted to purchase another screen hub but it only comes in a set but the security for what it gives is really reliable. App works good and can even setup different scene mode (disarm, arm , home) on the app so that way it can be available on the Apple Watch for quick warming and disarming. Overall, really good product.

First time using a DIY system. After 6 months of research/ hesitating bought it on sale. Worked out well. Handy built-in chime feature dings when a door opens (can turn off). One annoyance, if you adjust the system volume, it changes the door chime volume and also the built-in alarm siren volume. Would be nice if these were separated, not that big of a deal, but just an FYI. External siren has its own volume level. Sirens could be louder. Best to place external one outside so your neighbours hear it. The system uses wifi, not 4G. Very easy to install/operate/use. Does NOT send text messages, but rather alerts via the app installed on your phone. If you want texts, there is an option to subscribe. The app alerts are working fine for us. App is missing some features. Can't get very granular in the settings, but I think its similar across most DIY systems. Can be set to self arm/disarm on schedule, e.g. going to sleep and waking up in the morning. We looked for a few months as I mentioned, and it was kind of intimidating at first, but good choice. After installing it, good piece of mind. The newer 2nd Gen with touch screen (this one), much better than the older one. Overall happy we have it. Does its job.

After using the OSI Smart Alarm System for the past three years, I recently made the switch to the new OSI Smart Alarm System Gen2, and I'm genuinely impressed with the improvements. The large display immediately caught my attention – it's not only sizeable but also exceptionally clear and vibrant. The touch display on the Gen2 is a significant upgrade in terms of appearance, speed and responsiveness. It feels like a tech refresh, making interactions with the system smoother and more intuitive. Setting up the system and adding the accessories such as the siren and sensors was very straightforward and easy, thanks to the wizard feature. Connecting to WiFi and the Smart Life app was a hassle-free process, even for less tech-savvy users like myself. The promise of continuous updates is a standout feature for me. Knowing that the Gen2 will receive ongoing fixes, updates, and new features adds long-term value to my investment. The multi-user functionality is thoughtful, providing personalized access without compromising the admin settings. Additionally, the Gen2 addressed a previous issue I had with patio window contact sensors having issues connecting as the metal frame of the patio was blocking the signal. This new system fixed that issue for me! Aesthetically, the Gen2 has won me over. It not only performs exceptionally well but also looks sleek and modern. The built-in stand is very convenient and now allows me to place on a shelf near the entrance, and built-in siren contribute to a cleaner overall appearance. This also goes for the wireless strobe siren! the whole unit plugs directly into the electrical outlet...no screwing into the wall! so now i can just move it around by unplugging and just plugging it into another outlet. The OSI Smart Alarm System Gen2 is a solid upgrade, with lots of new updates and features! The second you turn it on, you will get a good sense of the quality of the system! If you're considering buying this as your first alarm system, replacing or upgrading from the OSI Smart Alarm System Gen 1, the Gen 2 Model is 100% worth the investment for a reliable and modern home security solution.
